Convince me on the Dragonfly

I sold off my DF2 ZDP189 FRN and my Salt 1 and got this beauty instead

I just bought the Green FRN ZDP version and it has become a new favorite of mine, supplanting the Caly 3.5. Excellent little knife for everyday cutting chores. Thin, exceedingly sharp blade.

I've owned quite a few nice knives from Benchmades to ZTs. The Dragonfly (189) is my first spyderco and also happens to be my favorite knife. I keep a ZT 0566 in my backpack/car but my df is on me 100% of the time. Unless you're planning on taking it into the woods as a survival knife, it will cover the majority of your cutting needs.

Help me decide if I need one

Get a Dragonfly or the terrorists* win!....That should settle it.

*Unless you'd prefer them to win- then change that to "Or the glorious freedom fighters lose"....Either way, you need at least one Dragonfly in your life:D

I have the stainless steel version and can't say enough good things about it. It's a great EDC, especially for its size and ergonomics.

I have a dragonfly and a ladybug. I love the dragonfly way more. I use it everyday for all kinds of stuff.

I have one of those and it is an awesome knife. I love everything about it. Good choice.

I sure wish these were easier to come by. I own the orange VG10 and the HAP-40 but would have held out for one of these if I knew they were coming back anytime soon.

You'll be glad you got it. If any knife defies physics, the DF is it. Small in the pocket, but big in the hand. Cuts like a heavy weight, but weighs next to nothing. Brilliant design.

Good little knife, though I very rarely carry mine. I use it at my desk quite often, however.

The G10 Dragonfly is one of the best Spyderco knives ever made. The serrated H1 Dragonfly is also awesome. I carry my G10 Dragonfly a lot. Don't need anything bigger most of the time, the wire clip rocks, and the ergonomics are the best in the entire Spyderco line for me.

You made a fine decision.

I have the H1 version and it's a whole lotta knife in a very small package.
If that aligns with your needs or wants, please don't hesitate to check one out. As you can prolly tell from this post, very few people have bad things to say about the Dragonfly 2.

I'm considering both, and of course H1 SE, and orange, and burnt orange HAP40, and, uh...

I don't carry my DF2 nearly enough. Rarely to I need a larger knife than this for the vast majority of everyday tasks. This little knife just works. The combination of FFG and the leaf shape makes it one of my favorite blades to use.

Nothing wrong with VG10, but ZDP 189 is my flavor of choice in this little beast. I would definitely consider picking up a HAP40 on the secondary market for the right price as well.

Bringing this great thread back to life as I have been eyeing the Dragonfly2 for a few days now. I'm still trying to decide between the VG-10, ZDP and H1 steels though. I don't have any experience with ANY of those steels, so maybe we could get some more comments from those that do.

For those that have had the different steels, may I ask which one did you liked best and why?

HAP40 and ZDP are my winners, with SE H1 and Super Blue in a close second and keeping in mind VG10 is no slouch. My VG10 Dfly is the Stainless steel handled one. It was a gift and certainly feels robust. But for EDC in biz casual- FRN for the win
