Convince me on the Dragonfly

Never thought I would get such a small knife but when receiving a DF2 zdp-189 as part of a package deal, I was surprised by its quality and how it melts nicely in my hand. I carry it as a secondary folder but I may have used it more than my primary folder.

Oh and why you asked. HAP40 gets stupid sharp, is easy to sharpen, doesn't chip, and patinas. ZDP I haven't tried to resharpen yet but it comes ridiculously sharp and holds that level a long time. Super Blue sharpens easy and to a high level but did not hold it long. I sold mine. SE H1 is tough, easy to sharpen on a SM and can be run through a dishwasher if needed. It is probably the most versatile EDC in the lineup. And VG10 is Stainless as heck, sharpens easy and even for novices, and the price point makes owning one really doable for even the budget conscious

H1 SE is a fierce cutter for the size

I am a relative newbie when it comes to the Dragonfly but it has quickly taken over as my EDC. I had one.....used it a bit....convinced myself I didn't love it......sold it......missed it.....and then bought it again. This one is staying. I gave it a Rit Dye job, which started out a cool looking lime green inspired by some other members, and then I decided to go black. Black has slowly worn off due to all the water and sweat it's experiencing and now it looks like the British Racing Green that comes with the ZDP version. The color is growing on me. Never thought I'd be carrying a serrated blade but this thing has won me over.

Just picked up my first dragonfly last week and I LOVE it. Not sure why I never grabbed one before

Congrats! What kind of steel did you get?

I went with H1 SE. Very very nice. Especially after just a touch of stropping. I have every intention of ordering one in plain edge as well. Annnnnd also one with the hawkbill once it is released.

I picked up the plain black and VG10 version after being convinced by this thread. I loved it, either as a companion to a larger blade or as an edc on it's own. It definitely feels bigger than it is. I recently gave it to my girlfriend to carry and now i miss it. I'll probably pick up another one, and likely VG10 again. I have ZDP, H1 and Hap40 in other knives, but for a small edc/backup, VG10 is everything I need.

I have the g10 version and have x-large hands. I can operate it just fine one handed with the pocket clip on. Small tasks are fine. If I have to use it for more than a few minutes it gets uncomfortable due to its size. It's great for small edc tasks for most things. I wouldn't know about cardboard as I have folding razor knives anywhere I would need to perform that task They are obviously more suited for it and the blades are dirt cheap. You can get a dragonfly just about as sharp as a razor blade though. I'm sure if you used it for cardboard, as some people like to do, it would do fine for a box here or there.

I have a H1 SpyderEdge Dragonfly in my short pockets right now. I love the knife and the spyderedge. I dyed mine and its a nice dark green.

Its my favorite and most used knife of all time. It can do everything and it does it well. Its only $48 today on amazon thats a steal.
H1 serrated is probably the longest lasting edge ever so theres always that.

Glad you like it, i think my first spyderco was an SS version. Was a lil heavy but built like a tank. Was the gateway knife to all the spydercos i own today

I carry mine in zdp, I love the high hardness making it the perfect little slicer for me, disappears in my 5th pocket and touches up on the sharpmaker/strip with ease, have the serrated h1 on to buy list. Do they have serrated DF in any other steels
