Convince me on Wire Clips

FriarPhenn, how are you liking the Slyszs so far?

They're pretty good. I completely understand the love that the Techno gets. Easily outclasses my DF2s and Natives. The stout blade makes me super comfortable using it for just about any cutting job, and the feel in-hand is surprisingly solid despite the three-finger grip. The Bowie is taking a little longer to get used to given its super-slim profile. But it's a gorgeous knife and it found its way into my pocket quickly.

As for the clips, I'm not hating them. In fact, I've not even noticed them, which is saying something. I immediately disliked the Sage I owned after picking it up and feeling the wire clip in-hand. But those on the Slysz duo haven't been intrusive. They feel stronger that those on my DF2s, but that may be perception. I did have to re-bend one of the clips. It looked like it had caught on something and been pulled outward, but it bent back easily. So far, so good with the clips. We'll see how feel over time. But I may be convinced with these two knives. :)

The Techno's wire clip is a bit 'weaker' than the DF2 wire clip in my experience, but I prefer the Techno's (deep carry, bead blast finish, easier engagement).

As far as my Spydercos with a wire clip, I am partial to the smaller knives like my Chaparral 1 and Dragonfly2.

The Slysz and the Foundry are on my short wish list. I had a sage 3 for a while, bent the hell out of the clip but was able to bend it with some pliers so it functioned again. As long as it doesn't snag on something it should be alright IMHO.

i am disliking the wire clip on my sage #1 and would much rather have the solid spoon style one like on the domino's,most of all my spyderco's have this spoon style clip on them and i have come to like them,i have never had any problems with them, but the wire clips always seem to get hung up on things and always getting bent,i don't mind the three little screws that hold the regular spoon clips as they add a bit of class to a pocket knife !

i am really thinking about doing this to my sage #1,soon as i can find the right pocket clip ! vary nice work looks good.

So the Techno's been working pretty hard to convince me on wire clips. And I'll admit; I was almost a believer.

But this, THIS made me a believer the second it slid into my pocket... :D

Surprised you like that better than the Slysz Bowie.

I am too. I keep trying to like the Bowie, but every time I pick it up it doesn't feel right. Too thin in hand. Also, the lockup being at 60% makes for a very narrow grip point for my first finger. It's a hot spot I can't reconcile given that every Bowie I've seen pics of had the same lockup.

The PITS is thicker in hand, fits my grip better, and weirdly FUN. I immediately clicked with it where I didn't with the Bowie.
