Convince me to buy a BK15

Aaaaand Dex comes through (unsurprising!):

Even sent me a set of stainless handle bolts. Thanks, Dex!!
Plan is to strip the blade (not handle), lower the edge angle a bit. This thing is wicked in cardboard. Can't wait 'til it's low-drag too.

Awesome Daizee! Glad it arrived safely.

Such a great knife. I love mine. Everyone needs one for sure.

Beautiful! Sounds like I should have ordered from Dex :/.

Just got my shipping confirmation though, so at least that helps. But its a solid 1 week of shipping from the looks of it. Oh well, I've waited two years, what's another few days :P.

My confirmation email came through today too. Luckily it will only be a few days travel time for me.

Got my 15 today. Even though it has the same scales as the 16, this feels different. It feels heavier yet balanced. The coating is more promident. There is a coolness about this knife I cannot describe. Subtle, aggressive, pointy. I feel like I should be wearing an eye patch at times. (okay, maybe not) Then there is the sheath. For its intended use the sheath is more than adequate. For what I want to use it for, EDC, not so much. Then again, this is not really an EDC blade. At least not for me in my suburban life. The coating, well lets just say it gives every one wanting to mod a starting place.

This is going to make one hell of a steak knife. Here's my poor attempt at a glamour shot

Mine just arrived. Wonder if I would get in trouble for making feather sticks from pencils at my desk 😏

Ha. For me, the first casualty is any paper I can get my hands on. Usually that means the junk mail gets shredded, but when none of that is available things get dicey.

oncLogan, the 15 will do everything the 16 will do, but it will cut better. You won't be disappointed with not getting the 16. Enjoy it. I'm enjoying mine.

Mine came hair popping sharp. I only wish the sheath I just made for the 16 would work for the 15. I look at it as a bonus since now I have something to do this weekend :)

Got my BK15 from Dex yesterday as well.

My collection of Ka-Bar Beckers is starting to fill out. My original "KB7", the BK15, and the BK24 ...

Really like the look of Apophis' stripped BK15. Just may have to order another and try that myself.

After a few days with the 15 I have changed my opinion of the sheath. If I'm going to keep it in my work bag, then the sheath does the job. If I'm going into the woods, it will work fine. However, I really would like to use this in a more of an EDC role. The 16 fits fine in the front pocket with a different sheath, the 15 is a no go for pocket carry. For this I need something different, not sure if I will carry the 15 on my belt vertically or horizontally. A sheath that does double duty is what I am thinking. Give me time, I'll come up with something.

Well, today I should be receiving the BK15. That makes it a total of three and a half weeks since I placed the order, but at least its out for delivery. It even made it the day before my birthday :).

EDIT: The package got dropped off at my office at work, so the upside if I don't have to wait to get to it. However, I'm not going to risk unboxing it at work, since I'm like 99% sure everyone would totally freak out.

Damn I just saw this ive always looked in this forum from time to time and cant believe the 15 might go away! Its a awesome knife!! Very sad if it does:(

Just ordered the bk5 & bk15 since they are going away. Would love to have had enough money to also buy a bk4 for the collection but I'm saving my pennies for that bk21 kukri.

Now the hard part; waiting for that box to arrive.... Can't wait to try em.

Thanks to the forum for the heads up on them being discontinued.

I'm late to the party but I'm catching up quick... I was brought into the Ka-Bar fold by a trade I did for a large sharpening stone I had and got a BK-14, neat little knife so that got me looking at other BK things and ended up getting a Paranagatang wicked short sword!

BUT, I also was impressed with the BK-15 look which surprised me as I've never been a trailing point knife kinda guy, just the opposite. BUT...I didn't check the forums first :( and didn't know about Dex otherwise I'd have bought that 15 from him UGH and to top it off I just ordered last night a 5 which I should have ALSO gotten from Dex, argh oh well, I'll know better next time, but, back to the thread, the 15 is one cool knife, mine I can actually flex the blade slightly so it's probably not a great one for using to baton through heavy wood, but if you want to cut something, this is a great choice! My 5 won't be here until next week but I'm anxious to see that one as well.

Here's a shot of mine, still too new, but will get some marks on her before long.

As I said, the trailing point was never a favourite of mine, until I picked up the Opinel Slim #8 and it sucked me in ;) waiting on my BK-5, from what I've seen that truly dwarfs this BK-15 by a LOT ! should be cool :)

Now the long swedge grind, the blade benefits a couple ways from that design, allows for a better slicer by reducing the spine's thickness while it still provides a wide blade giving overall strength to the blade, otherwise it would be too narrow.

I know some have knocked it for not being good for using it to baton, but this is a slicer folks, one wicked slicer!!

I found it interesting that while the blade had a rough grit surface, the handle does not, seems almost backwards :) I will most likely be smoothing out that blade later on myself.

The paracord lanyard has my, now, standard two diamond knots, love those knots! First one to help draw the knife out and the other to end the safety loop.

I watched a Vid clip of Ethan calling the 15 an expensive steak knife and that was just what I was looking for. So I just ordered one for the extra micarta scales I had laying around. Im going to strip it and maybe duracote it and put the black micarta scales on it with some ss hardware and it will be my kitchen prep blade.
