Convince me to strip my 15.

Patina method #1
Vinegar; apply salt; add mustard, salsa, and/or jalapenos to taste. Let sit.
Rinse clean; wash; dry.
Take pictures.
Submit for approval.
Done.

Patina method #2
Just use it...food items, especially, will discolor a blade. I was surprised at how much patina I got on a D2 blade just by slicing blueberries.

Patinas are fun, like opening a present to see what's inside. Sometimes you get men, sometimes you get ooh yeahhh. If all else, just keep layering, no need to try to scrub off the old. I think the layers give a more authentic look.

LOL, nice description. :D

Did you use French's Mustard? That stuff works pretty well. You have to leave it on long enough for it to start to stink... Then you know it's working.

My Dad's old Camillus Pilot's Survival Knife with mustard patina:

Granted, I also sprinkled some Apple Cider Vinegar on it as well. Can't wait to see the final images of yours...!

Yeah, that's what I used. Too impatient to leave it on long enough, though. :D

Cool patina on that PSK.

Noswad,

Nice work, isn't this fun?

BTW: Doesn't everyone remove that black protective shipping coating? :p

Yep, sure is fun.

No.

Will we? We didn't get to see any pre-strip etching pics. I'll bet others who are contemplating etching would have found them beneficial.

And don't be stingy. Haven't heard anyone yet complain - "too many pics!" ;)

You sure you aren't a woman?? Never pleased... :D

For anyone who wants pre strip stuff, DunkEm made a nice thread on the process.

Might cut up an apple or two tomorrow to get some extra color to it.

Here's the thread on the final product.
