Cook's Woods

That's what I'm talking about. If that stuff is D. Nigra, I imagine the price is incredibly high. It would be a shame to cut it into knife handles instead of guitars, but I still want to.

Anyone want to go in on it? I'm betting about $100/bf.

I can get you some pine and some rose colored paint, for about $1.00 per board foot :D

that's nothing :)

I've been thinking about heading down to cook, it's only a few hours away...

IG,

Thanks for posting that. They are about 100 miles away. I somehow envision a trip over there soon. And we'll be taking the pickup, not the car.

Um. Let's discuss that James! :D

Seriously, I've bought a lot of wood from these folks over the years and I can recommend them 100%. Fast shipping, great packaging, and I've never been disappointed in a piece of lumber I've gotten from them.

I've used bubinga a few times. It takes an incredible finish just by sanding to 2000 grit, applying some wax (I've used minwax floor wax and Birchwood Casay's Gunstock wax with equal success), and buffing with a soft rag. It is pretty heavy and hard. It also smells like dog crap when you work it if it isn't really dry!
