Cool little Cody Lundin video

One of the reasons I no longer go barefoot afield is due to possible injury. Once you ruin your feet your bush days are over, they are your transportation just like your truck gets you to your job! Also, you can pick up parasites, especially roundworms from this habit around your yard if you have pets.

Yep, and that's the reason that Indians of almost all tribes always carried extra mocassins with them when they were out hunting, raiding and horse stealing, exploring, scouting, fighting, etc., etc.

I've read a couple hundred books about the American Indians, and in virtually every one, it is noted that they always carried extra mocassins. Also one of the primary duties of the squaws was making mocassins.

There would have been times when they HAD to go barefoot, but it was not of choice.

I remember reading some accounts from the waning days of the Apache Wars in the 19th Century, in which the Apaches mentioned "then we paused and repaired our moccasins" so often that I had to laugh a little.

If the Apaches had had Nikes, we European Americans would've been kicked back into the Atlantic.

I tried this a couple of times last summer on one of my local hikes and it does actually make you feel quite good in a tree hugger kinda way......it's not as painfull as you might think either !!!

In my experience, it makes a LOT of difference what your ground is like.
