If you had a little money laying around and you were to buy a nice Spyderco just for the heck of it, for the coolness factor or for showing it off to your fellow knife afficianados, would you go for the P'kal, T-Mag, or CF/BG42 Military? I was just curious to see what the people out there like the most...

Thanks for your opinions.

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

KATN,

Wade

I would take a mili of any kind.

T-Mag- I don't think ppl care too much about the magnet, and the over shape is not as eye catching.

P'kal - I don't know if ppl would appreciate the removeable wave feature nor do they care about reverse grip.

Mili - It just a giant of a knife, and I'm sure there'll be lots of conversation about it.

My take on this.

None of the above because none of them comes in full spyderedge:grumpy: :grumpy:

Of the three above, I'd definitely go with the CF/BG42 Military. It's a much better all-around knife than either of the others you've mentioned. Plus it has the mega-cool BG-42 steel.

Out of those maybe the p'kal just because its so unusual...If i really wanted a spyder to wow someone with it would have to be a fully spyderedge bbalisong...which doesn't exist :(

I've got the P'Kal already, and I'm left-handed, which means the Military is not an option. I'd have to go for the T-Mag. My rationale would be that I might be visiting one of those havens of tyranny that forbids locking folders.

If the T-Mag were to be used in self-defense, the best grip would be the same that the P'kal is designed for: reverse into Pikal. All the force would be applied on the forward third of the edge, keeping the knife open.

Hopefully.

The Military would scare the sox off of any NKP but amaze those who knew what they were looking at. I'd go with the Military.

Out of the options available: CF/BG42 Military

But if I could pick any....either the Chinook 3, Street Beat, Stretch 2, or Captain (all equally desired)!
:D

 WHHHAT I'm sorry but that's just crazy talk!

"T-mag" and "self-defense" should never be used in the same sentence (aside from the sentence: The T-mag should not be considered for self-defense). From what I have read, it doesn't take much to disengage its slipjoint. Additionally, I have read several reviews that have stated that its slipjoint is so weak that the reviewer is hesitant to use it as an EDC.

If I were given the option of defending myself with a T-mag or bare hands, I would no doubt choose bare hands. In that situation, the T-mag would be more trouble than it's worth.

There are many gradiations of braging rights, so its important to know what you want to brag about. Are you looking for the strongest knife on the block? The most viscous? The most expensive? The weirdest? The coolest looking? The smallest? The largest? The most practical? The least practical? What kind of knives do your friends have? All of these are very important questions to adress in any gear-related pissing contest.

In terms of braging rights in general, the T-mag is definitley lacking in most regards. The CF B42 military will apeal the most to material snobs, and is definitley ruged enough for the "strongest man in town" award, but is not very spectacular to look at/ play with in your living room. The pikal, IMHO, has the most general braging rights, as it is viscious, impractical, high tech, weird looking, and will be alot of fun to whip open and closed.

However, the civilian would probobly be the ultimate conversation starter, as it is so evilllllllllllllllll looking.

I pick the Military, rates high on the cool scale for me. The knife is large, yet so incredibly light, and it seems to melt in the pocket of my favorite jeans, don't know it is there till I need it:)

Of the knives listed, I would pick the BG-42 Military… oh wait, I already did.

I hesitate to jump on the bandwagon - but here's another vote for the BG42 CF Mili. Just a schweet piece.
