Corby Bolts question

All the more reason to use the piloted drills or counter-bores in drilling the bolt holes. With a pilot , the bit can't wander any at all.

BTW, there may have been some confusion in my post about the drill to drill the seated hole with. I use a counter-bore type drill made for the Corby bolts. I have several types, and my favorite is from Pop's. Standard piloted counter-bores are excellent, too, but the fluted step drill/reamer from Pop's will also ream the shaft hole as well as cut the seat and body hole.

if u don't want tearout of your material, put an additioonal piece of wood under where your hole will be for the drill bit to drill into. try to have them flush , it acts as one piece , the tear out will then be under your scrap piece. and you can tape that area where your hole is to exit, that helps too. tearout sucks on any wood work.

Good tip, but this is a five year old thread. Please check the dates before posting on threads found in searches.
