Cougars in Mississippi?

Saw one running down the beach in Ft Morgan Al. at dusk. Was down there staying in a beach front house while on vacation in Sept. last year. CJ

Here along the Colorado Front Range, there are lots of them.

My personal stories.

Came across the front 1/2 of a mule deer, so fresh it didn't smell and was still bleeding, LOTS of big cat tracks in and around the deer...Me and my partner figured the cat was still near so we made alot of noise and got further up the trail.

Same hiking area (Chataqua Park above Boulder CO, near the Flatirons) rumor has it that a guy walking his pitbull, has the dog get off leash after it smells something. Guy looks and doesn't find the dog. Dog comes home hours later chewed to ribbons...diagnosis was that it ran into a Mtn. Lion.

Wildone39 first off Its good to find another mississippian out there where are you from my mother and father and many more people I know have seen them game and fish say's they don't exist understood. Alright that out of the way me personally have mixed feelings I am know the people at the game and fish some very prominant people I have had this discussion many times with a biologist friend of mine who works for the state he say's they don't exist they have found some dead but everytime they have ran dna and it alway's turns out to be a strand from somewhere they sell them as pets the pets have a different makeup than a wild one. But everyone that has seen these animals has never been able to show proof to support their claim. You also have to look at this if they where here they would have to eat at least a deer a week to survive somebody would be finding dead deer all over. But if they don't exist why is it illegal to shoot one in mississippi just some things to think about.

As i was driving down smith peters rd in poplarville ms today i and my two children saw what i thought was a cougar. It was a large cat med to dk tan. It had a long tail and was about 2 1/2 ft tall.
