Could this be the Bushcraft knife to beat all others ?

"Could this be the Bushcraft knife to beat all others ?"

The knife I have on hand when needed always beats all others. :) Beyond that there is no such thing as the perfect knife IMHO.

it does nothing that knives I already own could not do as well. Or better. 1095 would not be my choice of steel.

Looks to me like Tops is definitely heading in the right direction: no more sharpened pribars, no more coating on the blade - finally something else.
The BOB was a good start.

from their website:

Specs:
O/A Length: 9 ¾”
Blade Length: 4 1/2”
Thickness: 1/8” :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
Steel: 1095 High Carbon Steel
Handle: Black Canvas Micarta
Blade color: Beed Blast Finish
Sheath: Ballistic Nylon
Designer: Caleb Musgrave

The DRAGONFLY 4.5 is definitely the most appealing knife I saw from tops to date.

Anyone got first hand experience with one?

Cool! I like the BOB but i like this design a little better. Canadian design by a wilderness instructor from Rice lake, Ontario. I spent a fair amount of time in the Rice Lake/Alderville area back when i lived in Ontario. Too bad i didn't know about his survival school back then!

As far as the bushcraft knife to bear all others, I don't think so but it does looks like a nice effort and to each his own.

That Tops Dragonfly 4.5 looks pretty nice although the name seems uncharacteristically tame sounding for Tops and the Dragonfly has a fairly long association with Spyderco. Seems like High Carbon Beaver Tooth 4.5 or Pine Punisher 4.5 would sound more Tops-esque.

The Canadian designer likely named the knife. He is First Nations and a survival instructor. I can't remember off the top of my head but maybe the Dragonfly has some significance in Ojibwa culture?

Perfection is in the search..........

Nice quote bro.....I like it and LIVE it!

My buddy just picked up this blade, after I linked him to it, he's very much into the Bushcraft "culture". He's impressed so far, we have not had the chance to head out and use the blade and I'm resisting picking one up having just got my Randall Model 5 in a 5 inch blade. But, for a little over a hundred bucks....I may just have to pick up yet another 5 inch blade knife.

BTW, I like the looks and feel of it......alot! Sheath is cool also, good kydex and the mount is adjustable for horizontal or vertical ride.

So it doesn't come with a nylon sheath as advertised?
I prefer kydex myself - slimmer profile and more versatile.
Keep us posted after you get to use it.
