Council Tool Co. Celebrates 130 Years with Commemorative Saddle Axe

I got mine last week #28. My photobucket is full and despite deleting 100's of pictures, it still shows 100% full so no pictures. Anyway the bevels on the blade are highly polished and even. Obviously a lot of care went into the production and finishing. Very beefy compared to my svelte Collins Saddle axe, both on the head and handle. The Collins has more acute cutting angles. One handed operation is possible but I think if I use this Council, I would tend to use two hands. Not unwieldy, but stout for sure. I think breaking this handle would be almost impossible in regular use. I hope a 18"-22" handle would be something Council considers in the future for this head. That size double bit would be unique in the market, a little lighter and more packable than a standard cruiser. The sheath is nice heavy leather with a welt.

I received mine today. #97. I couldn't be happier. What a cool, quality little axe. I will buy a production model if they release those

Any chance we will see a 28inch handle on these in the future?

There has been talk of following up with a matching cruiser, which would be a step up in head weight (2.5 lbs.) and handle length (24-28")... but this 2 lbs. head would be too small traditionally for a 28" handle.... We shall see what the market demands, which might allow for a 20" handle for this axe, or one full hand-grip in length..

Peace, Rooster :)
