Council tool velvicut boys axe is finally here...

Yes--adjusted for inflation. Using the skilled labor commodity index method to adjust to 2012 dollars, which were the most recently available ones in the service I was using (since 2013 isn't finished out yet!)

Edit to add: Correction. Make that 1931. Double checked the date of the catalog I had used (the 1931 Logan-Gregg hardware catalog.) The adjustment for inflation was correct, though--I was just remembering the date off the top of my head wrong. They were about $1.04 in contemporary dollars. The item reads:

Kelly "Perfect"
Jersey Pattern

Soft steel body, crucible steel bit,
hand tempered, full polished and la-
beled, blue bevels.

3 1/4 to 3 3/4 lb per dozen $25.00
One dozen in a box

This was under the section titled "Single Bit Unhandled Axes"

Not to sidetrack anymore than I already have--- I have never been able to get my hands on a FSS. Could anyone here detail the differences between the Standard and FSS--- All I was able to read mentioned the heat treat QC was held closer.

Thanks,
Bill

Plastic wedge with epoxy (instead of aluminum wedge)
Black paint on head
Better heat treat and handle?
Anything else?
