It's almost autumn, that means that the county fairs have been in full swing for a few weeks now. Around here, our county fair is the last of the season. That's alright by me, I'm kind of partial to ours anyway. I grew up in 4-H and FFA, I took animals to the fair every year that I was able and stuffed myself to the brim with all sorts of fried fair food. Every year I would get to take the entire week off of school and I had to make sure that I attended the Grand Stand activities every night. The fair is sure to ruin my diet this year. The food stands that are an absolute must to visit are the Pork Producer's Stand, the Dairy Stand for milkshakes, Wisconsin Cheese Curd Stand, and any stand that sells Onion Blossoms, Fried Pickles, Elephant Ears, Funnel Cakes, Lemon Shake-Ups, and you cant forget French Fries with Salt and Vinegar. I think that covers almost everything, I'm drooling just thinking about it. I am wondering if anyone enjoys county fairs, if so what is your favorite part?

Mmmmm apple cider, funnel cakes, and all the other great food that goes with fairs. Bring em on!

Oh man, that's one of the many things I miss about small town living. We have county fairs here, but it just isn't the same in the 'burbs.

My favorite part is leaving LMAO. I go to take the kids but im not one for crowded areas. I do enjoy some of the food too though.

Speaking of funnel cakes though.. Me and the family was at Wildwood NJ last summer and the wife got a funnel cake as we are walking down the boardwalk. Then seagulls started attacking her eating the cake right out of her hands, they pecked at her hair and everything. I literally laughed my a$$ off. she dropped the cake on the ground and ran.. Oh my god i was rolling. Like 5 birds came out of nowhere and bombed her. It was priceless, she still wont eat a funnel cake :)

I do have to admit that this would be quite the traumatic experience, I'm not sure that I would be able to touch another funnel cake either. Your poor wife.

Haha too funny man. Speaking of seagulls I think there should be a hunting season for them. From Wal-Mart and fast food parking lots to the shore take your shotgun and go blasting.

of all the years I have been going to the fair I just found out last year there was a stand that sells corndogs for a buck! I will be living there this year and making people go get me other delicious fried fair food items! ha ha

Poor wife? Poor worldwood since his arse literally fell off.

Funny story, ww!

Right? LOL,

I got a hotdog when she got the funnel cake. I remember being pissed at the price when i seen how little the dog was, but after she was attacked by the birds I realized it was the first time i was happy i got less than i payed for :) The birds were not tempted by the vienna sausage looking hot dog, but that big cake sure looked great.

Most of all at the fairs and carnivals i like the games. Darts, ducks, basketball with bent hoops, all of it! We always leave with a car full of dollar store prizes that cost a handful of bills lmao.

I went to the Greensburg County Fair in Kentucky many moons ago. Was an interesting experience. I ate something dodgy I swear had hallucinogens in it and felt ill most of the time unfortunately. :D

That sounds like the normal fair experience Rob :)

You have to build a tolerance to the foods lol

My wife and I go to the fair every year. It's a tradition that started when we were in middle school in central Florida ( pre-Disney).
We live in metro Atlanta now and still attend the N. GA State Fair. It's all about the food, people and double Ferris wheel.
There is nothing like being greeted by the smell of grilled peppers, onions and sausages.
Nothing like it:D

I miss the double Ferris Wheel, the ride company got rid of it quite a few years back. It still is my favorite Ferris Wheel by far. For those of you who have no idea what we're talking about...

Beef, up until this year, I didn't know about the $1 corndog stand. I need to find this stand and visit it often, that's for sure. :D

I can't wait for the lamb show. I took lambs to the fair for ten years. It has become a family tradition to go and watch. Mainly I go to laugh at the people trying to catch a lamb that has gotten loose. :p

Oh my gosh. . . . Cheese Curds and Cheese Fries!!! My two most favorite things at the fair for sure. Thanks for bringing this up, I am now really really REALLY hungry.

Love fair season :) !!! I also grew up in 4H and FFA, brought the animals to the fairs cattle, sheep, rabbits. Did the tractor pulls also. Best for me is the food ! Steak and cheese, onion rings, onion blossom, kettle corn, milkshakes ! Oh man just thinking of it makes me hungry lol. I think I'm gonna need to run and hit the gym harder, get a jump start :D

Cheese curds.....oh my.

About the only fair I attend is the Strawberry Festival in April. Fried alligator, Turtle Sauce Piquante......and the standard fried twinkies and snickers....and ever other candy bar also. And boiled crawfish and crawfish pies. And chocolate covered strawberries.....music AND a quarter million people in my town that generally caters to 15000.
