Couple of 110 observations and questions

Edit: Well, dang, the phot didn't copy!!

Try to edit your post, when you copied the links you edited out too many of the brackets! Or recopy the pic and repaste it ;)

I am currently dismantling my bike to build one of these ;) :D
I'm gonna use these pics as a blueprint :D

The Buck 110 was viewed as a "gravity" knife by the Feds in the 1970s ( check the date) and there was a modication made to the blade at the pivot so that it can not be easily flicked open. I believe the year is noted on a Buck time line some where, so if your complaint is that it can't flick open easily, then it is acting as per design ( or redesign). Almost every state has wording against a knife being able to be flicked open ( not well enforced in many areas). The Federal definition of a switchblade includes a knife that can be flicked open.....

Switchblades and such are perfectly fine where I live (Iowa). If someone tells me how to "fix" this (or if I figure it out) I'll do it.

Is it possible to take apart and put back together a 110 without breaking it? Since I plan on getting a custom I might as well play around with this one and get all of my unwise experiments out of the way at its expense.

If you paid $35 for a 110 from Wally World, you were had. They are still $24.96 locally.

I have a few 110s, two CS 110s, an AG110, and my 560XLT with a 110 blade. That latter example is the only one that came difficult to open or close. I attributed that to the Ti handle. From the $8-$11 'Collector's tin' from after Christmas closeout sales to my CS Damascus, the blades were all symmetrically edged and well-centered when closed. The fit and finish is all the same, too - perfectly fine. Maybe I am just lucky?

I'd take that 110 back and checkout another example - after checking the WM site for the proper price. A 110 is a 'keeper'!

Here in my town they are over $36. But just 50 miles away the 110 is $26. As for the other stuff it's just nit picking, horse hocky start using it and learn something about knives! DM

I presume it was sold in a clam pack. Thinking that I would take it back and see if there's another one that's not so tight.

Trax forgot to post his pic from his field trip of the quenching process used in heat treating...

It came in a big yellow and black box with a nylon belt sheath. I'm satisfied with this one. If they're designed not to be flickable I doubt I'll find one much smoother than I've gotten mine.

Edit: I probably should have made it more clear that I can spyder drop it open; it just goes more slowly than I would like.

I would really like to have that egg beater...It would go well with my cast-iron meat grinder (with several interchangeable orifice plates)... ;)

Which one of you is that??? Clint or Dave??? The only pic I've seen of Dave was in a clown suit...
