Have you always wanted to make up a cover shot with a few of your Traditional knives for that hypothetical magazine cover. Let your imagination run wild!

Nice idea for a thread Gevonovich :) That's a fantastic collection you have. Looking forward to some great pics

Sure!...I like this pic... FES

I'm not disappointed either. Nice shot. Love those hawks!

I was on a few outdoor magazine covers myself in my younger days :D Had a few knives I was reviewing pictured on the front, and a knife I produced 20 years ago got a LOT of UK magazine coverage at the time. I think it got onto a few covers, but only small inset shots. I did pose some pictures I was very happy with at the time, but they were only ever published in black and white. I lost the originals years ago, and don't even have the magazines anymore, only photocopies. The only pics I have in colour are in this piece from the British Guns Review.

I still have my 001 knife though, and will try to get some pics of it sometime when I get a better camera. In the meantime I'll just enjoy the beautiful photos I'm sure you guys will come up with :)

good thread . love a bit of camera work myself. So what makes a good photo?
natural light.
background.
theme????
anything else?

Hi Gevonovich, here's a couple of stacks of my stuff. Hope it fits the thread.

Best regards

That's some great looking gear, Robin!
Super images too.

For an article on the deceptive beauty of polishing old knives (almost looks new, doesn't it?):

For an article on what we received from our grandfathers (tools symbolic of life lessons gained):

Great pics Doug  Lovely knives too :)

Had all my old tools stolen years ago unfortunately, including the hammer my grandfather used his whole working life as a wire-weaver, the tools I accumulated as an apprentice mechanic, and the micrometers and other precision tools that belonged to my favourite uncle :(

Great idea for a thread Gevonovich! I hope this one stays around for a while. I have worked with my brother for years now documenting his research when I get time and I am always surprised to see what photos editor's will pick for the cover vs inside pages. I will have fun with this idea, and thanks for thinking of it! I love the shots, and I always love seeing other photographers passionate about their work. This is going to be challenging and fun :)

Meako, I'm looking forward to your ideas
Jack, I somehow knew you would come up with some good ideas! Did not know you were a pro! More...
Thanks, Gary! I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the show!!

Thanks for the kind words.
