Coyote in the city

Coyotes are everywhere here in Texas...and they are very versatile animals..I have a buddy that owns 1100 arces near Colorado springs and he shot a few that were being destructive...

The coyote pictured looks to be pretty healthy. I'm sure hes been snagging those squirrels youve been getting rid of. Your location says Colorado but that looks pretty green already.

Oops, forgot to change the location... I've been back in Florida for about a week and am leaving tonight for Honesdale, Pennsylvania for the summer. I'm the head of the river crew for a summer camp up there, so I'll be on the Delaware all summer!

Growing up I always thought of cayotes as being a western animal, but I`ve seen a few near my folks place in NW Ohio. Lots of fat corn-fed whitetail deer and the occational wild turkey or pheasant too.

Now that I`m here in Japan the only things I see are foxes and hawks. The foxes aren`t shy about strolling around town once the sun goes down, they`re everywhere. But one of my friends grew up on a farm about 10 minutes out of town and said they had brown bear tracks and alot of clawed up trees last spring.

When I was stationed at MCAS Tustin in the heart of Orange County the coyotes used to come right into the base housing looking for cats to snack on. They would use the aquiducts and storm water conduits as their highway into the city from the hills to the east of the base.

Here in Clark County Washington where I now live they are pretty commen place. I've seen several bold ones walking down the street in broad daylight. The first one was on a fairly heavily traveled road in a very suburban area. recently I saw one come walking out of the high school track field and up the road past my house one morning as I went to get in my car. The coyotes around here seem to have lost thier fear of humans and have developed a taste for cats.

If you're tossing dead squirrels out back in the woods, then you're baiting in coyotes.

I live ten miles out of Tucson Az and about every two weeks or more often I see a coyote on my way to or from work. In the city itself I see one at least once a year especially in the early morning. they like to scavenge in the trash for goodies.

Coyotes are very common here, and that is the way I like it. It is reported that we have the most river within city limits in North America, and with that comes a close relationship with nature within city limits. I have no problem with them in the fields near my house, and if a couple yap dogs or my cats get eaten- that is what nature brings (and I love my cats). Heck a black bear walked down the street a couple of blocks away about 4 years ago.
