he must be the guy that orders 10 knives on the preorders all in the limited quantity micarta scales i'm guessing....this is a tough brand to be a part of....and with this thread the preorders are going to be filled in minutes. Glad all of you guys had your fun though, thats what its all about.....I will just be waiting in the back of the line...patiently o_O:D

Not hardly. Just been doing it for quite a while. And it doesn't count the one time l got four at once on the secondary market - but paid twice as much per unit as original cost. I have never seen or heard of anyone ordering 10 knives on any preorder or sale, ever. I think the max i saw was three a couple times. But 10, never.

Hahahaha.

Bob doesn’t put in for 10 on a pre-sale. Search through his posts, go back to the sale threads and what happens will become clear and obvious. Best recognize.

If you don’t know, now you know!

Yup, request for 3 x of whatever preorder list may offer has been the most number which I have noticed. On the normal sales threads, it has been 2 x when limited allow. By and large everyone is well behaved and respectful around here.

I used to have the same inclination. Not sure what happened

I'm sure that when you're a knife maker, you're bound to have many blades lying around that don't get used. I used to collect Case knives, over 200+ of them at one time, but one day I looked at them and thought, "Man, that's a lot of money just sitting around." lol I guess over the years, getting married and having 3 kids, the collector in me just died off.

Bob sold me a Shiv at cost, and I was very grateful, someday I hope to return the Favor:thumbsup::cool: The Bottom line is it really is NOBODY'S Business how many CPK's somebody purchase's, and what they intend on doing with them (Collecting, Using etc). You can call it hoarding or whatever! Nathan is in the business of selling knives! Hell if you want to order 10 HDFK or EDC2's, that's your choice and funds! Only problem I have is when people buy a knife and then turn around and flip it for in some cases a 100% mark-up! But then again even this practice is not ILLEGAL! If Nathan offers the MC, or BC in a future Pre-order, I will more than likely order 2 and end up using only 1, I like them CPK's ALOT :D

No Doubt having a family and kids eliminates a lot of potential funds for toys (ATV's, knives, Guns, etc) Been there and done this:thumbsup: The most expensive knife I owned for years was a Buck Vanguard :eek:By you owning a CPK HDFK, your way ahead of me when I was your age:mad:

I'm no knife maker, but in a way, you're right. Having made a handful of knives, I've developed a real appreciation for those who are really good at it, lol! Developing friendships along the way has fed the collector in me as well, since I like to reinvest any profit I make from designing into the work of knife makers who I want to see do well.

It's all about the common bond of the love for knives that bring us together for this fellowship of blades!

I never intended to be a collector.

I got a knife that was just too pretty too damage. Then I spent a lot of time learning about knives, craftsmanship, metallurgy and the like. Next thing you know I have fancy knives I don’t want to cut things with. But every one of my knives was designed to be a working tool and capable of such. All that is lacking is the will to do so.

And the knife in my pocket right now which had been there since I got which I use regularly, even some would say abuse cost me $650 USD. It’s dull as a butter knife. It’s not about the cost. Now I’ll have the time to get a bench setup and get the wicked edge out. Ohhhhh yeah Baby!

I'm sure some that are in the click, can or will post for one or two knives, then message the maker you want 10.... might have private message privileges, or might send an email .... Whatever, doesn't matter...I will just keep playing the game and see what happens. Either way, I'm still not a fan of this thread. I think if anything, it attracts more and more flippers, and hoarders. Makes it tough for the working man that just wants 1 quality user, I never once used 2 of the same knives at once, figure I never will. I think its great for The whole Carothers team for their well deserved success and building popularity in the knife world. I know they do all they can to give everyone a chance at their product. It's just tough being in the trenches.....and working past 3

In retrospect, I have no idea why I am bringing this thread back to the top

If you look you will find that Bob almost never claims anything.

I’m not sure what a hoarder is with regard to CPK as I’ve never seen anyone with 10 identical knives. Maybe 1-2 but that’s not hoarding. I bet they are maybe 6 people who I can think of who have 10-20 or more CPK. Vast majority of people who get them are users. There are less flippers than people with big collections, so far.

ExtraStout: this part has been edited since you and I communicated thru email and you explained your thoughts in a more eloquent way. Thank you for that.

I am not trying to be rude or controversial. I started the thread because the how-to and where-to question was coming up time and time again with more frequency. The thread was never intended to attract the so-called flippers and when one or two of the regulars seemed to have had crossed certain lines in the past, we the people called them out and then Nathan stepped in to say that all was cool. We just left things at that because the Man of the House garners the ultimate respect in his own subform.

If you want to land one of these and have no time or if the skills are lagging behind, then just ask and someone will try to hook you up. With all that said, I'm locking up this thread because it is getting derailed and I'm sure that when Nathan gets the time and if he so wishes, he can use the information within and make a more concise official how-to thread and then pin in on top!
