After seeing recent threads concerning 3V performance issues I decided to test it myself. Trust but verify.

I started with a stick of butter straight out of the fridge. That was my first mistake. Even after repeated blows with a mallet it barely cut in.

I pondered what could be done to get through this stick of butter and then it came to me. "Like a hot knife through butter!"

Success!

After letting the butter come to room temperature and boiling the knife I was able to cleanly cut through in one chop! Had to do it a second time with a wooden cutting board to give a better contrast and so you can see how the edge held up. I’m obviously no photographer.

As you can see, a nice clean slice.

Now lets get a close up of the edge.

As you can see there is no edge damage, no chipping or rolling.

In summary the heat treat is spot on but factory sharpness leaves something to be desired. Maybe it would have worked better if this was a hollow ground HDMC 🤷‍♂️

I hope you find this review helpful and you feel confident in your future purchases.

Yeah. Sad loss.

That video became an instant classic.

BTW, does anyone know if there was a specific/particular video that triggered/resulted in this video, or was it just the ultimate culmination of frustration with all the geniuses posting their reviews (opinions)? (*** I'd always found it funny/sad when folks would post their knife reviews, while clearly demonstrating that they have little understanding of how to even use a knife).

I'm not impressed at all by this review. If you really wanted to show the steel's capabilities, why not use a tougher media? Butter? Really? Perhaps you could do a review that really pushes the limits of the knife. Maybe feather sticks with soft pine or soap carving. Just saying.
