CPK DIY WIP

Okay gents, (and I think Uncle Matty said one time that we have a lady or two in here), my work on the DIY is complete!

Since the last installment, I had my name laser engraved at a small shop local to me, and I finally was able to complete the handle scales this afternoon.

Bonus pic of weight reduction holes Matt and I drilled while I was at his shop, forgot to show those off last time:

I'm bringing this knife back home to Mooresville this weekend, looking forward to seeing everyone at the gathering!

After that Nate and Mark will finish it up. Can you believe he told me it'll be done in two weeks?!

Thanks for following along,

Steve

That’s a beauty, a knife to be super proud of ❤️

You did a great job on that! And kudos to Matt for hosting you and giving you guidance.

Thanks for the update Steve! I was hoping that you would be updating us soon.

This is the coolest design idea and the best story thread on this forum in a while. You knocked it out of the park with this DIY project!

Congratulations on a great outcome!!

Phil

At the get-together, please pitch that blade shape to Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist (a collaboration?). Given the folder Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist EDCs, I suspect she will support you. Just saying :)

I have obviously been out of the loop, as this is the first time I have ever seen this thread. I am incredibly impressed as well as jealous as a muthafuckha. I remember talking with Stephen when he was mulling over what prize to pick, not yet knowing what the other two were going to select ahead of him. I weighed in that I would absolutely pick the DIY knife over damn near anything Nathan could have put on the table because it’s a chance to have a CPK that is truly unique. Swarthy and Yoko, sorry boys, but you both made the wrong choice. Don’t worry, I’ll be happy to tell you both to your faces while we are all gathered around and gawking at Steve’s knife.

Jealous because, damn, not only did you get to make a unique CPK, but you got Matt to guide you through it? I think I might hate you.

Because of these things, I am going to take the very unpopular position and say that I sincerely hope that CPK does not offer this blade in the future. That will ruin how special this one is and how unique this opportunity was for literally everyone involved. I would love to have a dozen of these in factory trim and watch them appreciate in value like the rest of my collection, but I truly would like to see this remain as special as I think it is in the world of CPKs. The word that gets thrown around these forums so often is “grail”. While I rarely ever use it myself, this knife makes that definition to me, and I hope it stays that way.

Really outstanding job, the concept and the execution, by all the parties involved, I’m beyond impressed.
