It's been ten years this year for me as well since my dog Chachka died. I've had other dogs, and I have a very good dog now, but Chachka will always be number one in my heart. I love and miss that dog terribly.

It is hard to believe how long ago it was. My hair isn't even grey in pictures with her, and yet her loss feels ever fresh.
 
Had my GSD been still alive, she would be turning 11 tomorrow. In memoriam of all those departed beloved which will never leave our hearts and minds. My condolences to both Blues and AbbyDaddy with their recent posts.

As for those in the living, here is my gargoyle goon as I type this munching away at his nasty bone!

Yeah, I'm without a bird dog right now, and it's been on my mind a fair bit lately. Pretty sure I'm going to get another one at some point. Still getting over my last one, though - he was the best dog I've ever had and we had a special bond.

I've hunted with a lot of dogs before, but this is the first bird dog that I've owned. I kept my expectations low since he's a versatile breed, but he's doing great in upland and waterfowl.

Doesn't hurt that there's a field trial ground that's 5 minutes from my house. I got him at the perfect time since COVID changed the entire work environment. Instead of going into the office and doing the grind every day, I can go shoot a few birds with him in the morning and log in after.
