CPK Pet Thread

Nice Beardie Grog! I had a couple of those too at one point.

I had Hemidactylus fasciatus and some day geckos free roaming around my animal room picking off the escapee insects. Worked great.

The green gecko I posted is a close cousin to the tokay actually. Some times even referred to as the green eyed tokay. Much more rare in captivity and not commonly bred. That is the absolute strongest, most aggressive gecko I've ever handled. That example was well over a foot long and all muscle and teeth.

So you're saying Tokays weren't mean enough? The only geckos I had were leopards and fat tails, seeing those crazy Tokays jump off the wall and onto people was enough excitement for me.

Go ahead... Rub my belly.

I used to breed herps as well, only about 12 species of geckos, but got into colubrids and poison dart frogs got a little carried away.
That's funny, we've a little herpetology club here! I bred some fancy ball python morphs for a couple years but also got way too carried away with it. When I was looking to upgrade to a 32 box unit I decided I'd gotten a bit silly. That, and I lost power in the middle of winter while I was at work and almost everything I had died from respiratory infections. Seemed like a sign.

I liked the Argentine tegus and bigger monitors the most. For herps I just have the two bearded dragons now though and I only took them because they were in need of a new home.

Yellow anaconda? I hate that movie in the background on so many levels...

Nice to see the cold blooded love in this thread.

Judging by the pattern and snout. I'm guessing a morph of reticulated python??
Great color on that one!! Seems like there's still some growing to do to...

I hear ya. It's easy to get sucked down that hole. Keeping cleaning feeding breeding exchanging bloodlines of 100+ animals at a time and selling off surplus became a part time job instead of a hobby. I was going thru about 5,000 crickets every 2 weeks.

And I've got too many hobbies. So something had to give. I'm down to a few pairs of animals less than 15 total now. I'll revisit it later. Closer to retirement possibly lol.

Platinum reticulated python. This one died a few years ago. He was definitely one of my favorites. Retics are probably one of the coolest species to work with They just act differently than your typical snake. Always thinking and watching.
