Thanks E. Hope Kobe is doing well too! I was trimming last weekend when I stepped on an underground yellow jacket nest. Got stung twice on the back of the leg, threw the weed eater down and ran like hell! Those things hurt!Glad she's gonna be okay, Jonny. Hopefully her recovery will be swift. That's one thing with dogs. They tend to make quick progress.
Until the setback with the yellow jackets yesterday, Kobe has been showing some progress after a course of Panacur for the whipworms.
We shall see. He seems much better this morning after developing a limp last night from either the stings or maybe a slight muscle pull trying to evade the little bastards.
I went back that night, dumped a cup of Dawn detergent down the hole and immediately stuck the water hose full blast into the hole. Eliminated the threat. They do. I'm sort of used to it over the years, but that first sensation always takes you by surprise. Tina's still complaining about 'em a little.
At least it reminded me to order some Benadryl to keep on hand. Or its generic equivalent for a lot less.
Well, that's one way of "cleaning up" the mess. LOLI went back that night, dumped a cup of Dawn detergent down the hole and immediately stuck the water hose full blast into the hole. Eliminated the threat.

I hate those underground Yellow Jackets too.
I wish Kobe well, man she’s getting into the terrible teens exploration years. She sure has come a long way in this last year though, congratulations to you both.
Prayers sent for Cleo’s full recovery and no lasting humiliation effects from the cone of shame.
I keep this Dermoplast on hand, it’s got 20% Benzocaine in it too for VERY fast pain relief until the Benedryl can kick in. Works great for those Yellow Jacket bites & stings.
Amazon sells it cheaper than any local drug store does, but sometimes you can find it on sale at Walmart or Target at a comparable price too. It’s not expensive either.
Just a FYI for something else that can help you guys out in the future.

Hope Gus heals up soon!So it turns out my dog, Gus, got a staff infection some how. The only way we can figure it happened is the infectious agent entered through his interdigital furunculosis.
His rear foot swelled so much that he couldn't walk on it. The swelling went clear up to his knee.
He was prescribed prednisone for inflammation and doxycyclene as an antibiotic. Turns out, he's allergic to doxycyclene. Away we go in the evening to a 24 hour vet clinic on our normal vet office's recommend. They give him benadryl and that's it.
Then the local vet I use prescribed a different antibiotic. I want to say it's enrofloxacin, but I don't recall exactly.
Finally, the swelling is way down and he's almost back to his old self. Unfortunately, we have to keep him to low activity until we've finished the 21 days of antibiotics.
These were taken at the vets office last Thursday. He's doing so much better now though.

Thanks. He's doing great now. We just have to try to keep him from running and jumping too much. That's easier said than done!Hope Gus heals up soon!

My favorite vet was seeing a great dog I had years back for a totally trashed knee. I told him that Shadow never seemed to complain, and the vet said “Brian, animals don’t sit around complaining or looking for sympathy like people do”. Very true. Dogs are great!Prayers for Gus
Trying to keep them from acting normal is a hard one. Goes against everything they just want to do naturally, regardless what the Dr say is best for them. Good luck on that.
Our pets are so tough though, they can bounce back and recover from what we would be endlessly moanIng and groanIng about.
I'm sorry, but your vet doesn't know what he's talking about...My favorite vet was seeing a great dog I had years back for a totally trashed knee.
