CPK Pet Thread

Thanh you for sharing Freckles with us. All pet pictures are my favorites, and RIP pictures break my heart, all while allowing the memories of love to live onwards. Way to go Freckles!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We rescued her when she was about year old, and had for 13 years. She was truly a family dog and went almost everywhere we did. We even had family members asking us to bring her to the family functions! All I can say is cancer sucks.

+ 1 for the rescue!!

Their backgrounds can be horrific, yet their love and loyalty to their new forever home can become a fantastic family ❤️👍

Holy smokes! I'm glad I backed out of the chopper pre-order.

My dog gus had his leg swell up a few weeks ago....another infection. Had to get a CT scan done.

Something got in his leg and it looks like it has worked its way deeper; the imaging shows the track it created. The foreign body didn't show up on the x-rays or the contrast CT scan. So now he needs an exploratory surgery; due to the location it will need to be arthroscopic (I think that's the right term). This crap is not cheap!

Wish my sweet boy luck.

Funny (long) story about my dog, Gus, pictured above.

My daughter is 9 months old. She's cute as a button and stubborn as a mule. She hates having people in her face.

So what does my mother-in-law insist on doing, no matter how many times I tell her not to? Yup. She's gotta get right up in my daughter's face. Understandably, my little girl gets pissed and doesn't like being held by her grandma.

One night we have my wife's parents over for dinner. I'm cooking and doing various things to prep so I had to step outside w/ my father-in-law to load something into their vehicle. My wife had to run downstairs at the same time and left our daughter with grandma in the livingroom.

When we all gathered back together, my mother-in-law said that my daughter started fussing while we were gone for the 5 to 10 minutes. She said my dog, Gus, jumped up on the couch and put himself between her and my daughter. She said that Gus then pressed his nose and muzzle against her face and slowly started pushing her face away from the baby.

I was very happy with him and how he always watches over my wife and daughter.

That's a damn good, smart, protective dog. I'll be damned if I'm going to let him suffer with some nonsense injury to his leg. He deserves better and I'll make sure he gets it.

Good luck to you and Gus. It is really hard when there is something wrong with our buddies. It’s tough. I hope that it goes as smoothly as possible for you all.

Here is an interesting one: our Dane Thor in 2006, who twisted his stomach when running after lunch … after the emergency surgery.

Good luck Gus , hope things go well and it's an easy fix!

My sister’s dog had that happen. During the surgery they stitched his stomach to something inside of him so that it wouldn’t happen again. I guess it’s common with German Shepherds
Yeah - can happen with all big dogs. For females, my vet used to tack the stomach during neutering by default (you can also ask for this). I recommend not to run them after feeding.

Yes my are not allowed to run around for at least an hour after eating. And they usually eat most of their meals from various puzzles to slow them down and give them some extra stimulation.

Best wishes for a good out outcome!
As much as I love knives, I would sell them all in a heartbeat if need be to help out one of my dogs. Dogs are the best, and that face is adorable.

I'm hoping it won't come to selling any of my CPKs, but the vet bills are getting pretty high, so I know I'll have to let go of some of my lesser blades.
