Went out and threw the frisbee once, maybe twice.

Doofus occasionally grabs the thing upside down so when running through deeper snow ends up scooping/flinging it onto himself.

I've been a bit occupied the last couple of weeks. Silas developed an injury on his tail from his frequent "happy tail". It's happened in the past and it's always been able to heal up ok. Well, this time it didn't go so well. Despite our best efforts to treat it and keep him fitted with a cone, his tail was so long that he could still get to it and during a brief few minutes of no supervision, he ended up chewing about an inch off the tip.

To the vet we went where they proceeded to amputate between 6-8 inches of his tail. You'd think a shortened tail would make it more difficult for him to get to it. Well, I thought that and I was wrong. He chewed out all of his stitches so back to vet I went yesterday to get him sewn back up. Now we are keeping him sedated as much as possible and we've rigged his cone with all sorts of crap to make it harder for him to access.

It's an expensive obsession. If he keeps it up, I'm going to have to change his name to Nubbins.

My girl had to have her beautiful tail docked for the same reason. I hope your pup heals up well.

Thank you, my friend. I didn't really consider it as an option, but I almost wish that I had asked them to remove more of it, lest it continue to be an issue going forward. We will see how it goes - hopefully it will be enough.

It’s so hard to keep them from their habits and what they just want to do.

My guy chewed/pulled his cast off 6x, 6 times back to the Vet.

I feel for you, and I pray for the best outcome for the both of you 🙏🏻

I hope it works out for Silas. I’ve known a couple of working dogs that had to have it done and it worked out for them. Good luck with it.
