I examined him first, and then our vet did. It is the facial nerve involved. I hoped it was from a bug bite since he likes to steal raspberries off the bushes.Definitely not tooth related, B? Our Weimaraner had a few idiopathic issues over the years...so hard when you don't know. Fingers crossed.
(I know you know so much more than I'll ever know, just first thing that came to mind.)
That’s rough. Good luck with it. I hate it when our buddies are having problems. My pit started drooling more than usual from just the right side and had a difficult time eating on the right side. Turns out he has idiopathic facial nerve paralysis. It is like Bells Palsy in humans which I had about 18 yrs ago. Poor little guy loves to eat! He is being a trooper and letting me run my finger inside his cheek to make sure nothing is stuck. I am glad his eye fully closes when he blinks. Hopefully things resolve. Always something…
Thank you! I generally like animals better than people, and I hate it when I can’t fix things for them. He has been through the ringer with eye lid tucks for entropion, TPLO’s on both knees, bad allergies requiring about $300/mo in meds, special food- but he is a really sweet boy. That’s rough. Good luck with it. I hate it when our buddies are having problems.
