  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

CPKomplications (watches)

And because I think everyone should own a G-Shock....this one has been my favorite, mainly for its relative simplicity. A lot of the new G-Shocks have just become way too over-complicated for my tastes.

I like the idea of a g-shock, but they are just too bulky

I have an old Seiko Orange Monster that doesn’t keep great time but it’s an old friend.

I have the same “shark tooth“ but with a black face. It kept decent time for quite a while and then went rogue. It would run super fast one day, real slow the next couple, then go fast again. I took it to a clock/watch shop and had it cleaned, lubed, regulated. It‘s been good for 4 years or so now and runs about a minute fast by the end of the week. The watch guy said the stock grease and oil inside the watch was sticky like sap.

I think the service cost me $100? I‘ve been checking out a Sinn but the Monster keeps ticking just fine. Plus I keep buying knives…..

I am not a fancy watch guy. Growing up, I broke about every watch that I had, I've always been pretty hard on them. As a teen, I came across a metal-cased digital Timex at a local retail store and scooped it up, it's the only one I never broke as a kid. I still wish I had that watch, actually...

These days, I usually wear an Apple Watch (with a metal aftermarket case). When I am out of doors though, away from power, I wear this G-Shock - solar powered and I don't need to worry about it dying after a day of use like the Apple.

I wanted to revive this thread as I had a query for you all.

As I've stated before, I've never been a fancy watch guy. That said, I am beginning to travel a lot more for work, attending tech conferences/trade shows, giving presentations and such. I'm having to revise my wardrobe a bit and one of the items that I am looking at improving upon is a watch. I don't know anything about watches, and truth be told, I am not sure I want to plumb that particular rabbit hole. I figured I would reach out to you all for some recommendations.

I'm not rolling in Rolex dough, but I also don't necessarily want to settle for a Timex. I know I prefer watches on the larger side (I have a larger sized Apple watch but it looks tiny and I have a hard time operating it - I only wear it to track my fitness metrics). Something robust, yet classy, that won't look like unnecessary bling in a casual environment but won't look out of place when wearing a suit. Thanks all.

Crappy photos, but you can’t go wrong with an Omega or an IWC.

I’ve been eyeing the Maratac 500m Alto Mare GMT on countycomm (my daily wear is now the Garmin T7, but I’ve always been partial to the look of dive watches and GMTs, and have an Omega Seamaster Pro like Blues’s, and an Omega GMT).
