CPM-110V Shallot

This might also make a very nice steel for the Mini Cyclone...in a TI frame of course! ;)

MC TIS110V...has a nice ring to it!

That has a very nice ring to it and I think would be amazing. I love my Ti/ZDP-189 Mini-Cyclone and would love one in S110V to match it, except with a stonewash finished blade.

It also would be a nice and classy way to say goodbye to the Mini Cyclone, as it might be discontinued.

Tungsten DLC coat it to match the ZDP...I kinda wished they would have done the Leek that way...or either finished the MC like the Leek.

I love the choice of the Shallot for these CB models, but I think the Groove is a design that really begs for the same treatment (especially the tanto model).
While we're dreaming, just imagine a Damascus Groove. I bet that would be one of the prettiest knives ever made!

(drumming fingers on tabletop) we're WAITING . . . . . . .

all well and good to drum. but what are you drumming? it doesn't resonate as well if you don't drum a rhythm of a song :D my current tabletop drum song is lateralus by tool :)

Any info on what the Rc is going to be? Also I couldn't find anything about this steel when I googled it, is it going to be very hard to sharpen like 440v. I think that 440v (s60v) is worse than zdp-189 and d-2 to sharpen. High wear resistant steel is nice until it is time to resharpen!

Blades will come in at 60-62 Rc.

Thanks Thomas. I was hoping it would take advantage of it's ability to gain higher hardness over S90V . This is another large ( IMO) first for Kershaw!

I always dislike companies that don't take advantage of the abilities of the materials they use. Kershaw can always be counted on to do things right.

I found that out when I bought my first knife from Kershaw that had simple old 440A steel. IMO, Kershaw did that steel better that any other I've ever tried. If Kershaw was the only one using that steel, it would never have gotten the reputation as a cheap steel

That is really meant as a compliment. Kershaw really has so many good things going for it now it's difficult not to see a great future for the company.

Kershaw will keep my loyalty as long as they keep up this relentness desire for progress.

Once again , Congratulations on another major first Thomas. Joe

Really. People lose sight of the fact that the heat treatment can be as important or more so than the type of steel. Excellent steel will never make up for poor heat treatment.
