Cpm 154v?

Hey Scott thanks for the heads up, it is pretty awesome that you still are able to make knifemakers REALLLY happy!

We received our first billets of CPM 154 last week. We have sent samples to an independent lab to check the cleanliness. Once we get the results, and they pass, we will start processing sheet for stock and to sell to distributers. Stock will be available by the end of January.

Scott Devanna has started working for SBI, which is the company that bought the service centers. I believe they will be licensed to sell CPM product by Crucible. We consider SBI a valuable partner for selling the CPM product we process and we all look forward to getting CPM brand steels into the hands (literally) of the people who want it.

Now that's a nice Christmas present !! It will make many people very happy !

Thanks, that's what I thought .
Additions of .20-.30 are added to steel for grain refinement , anything more will be for carbides. Having both S30V and CPM154 knives ,I wouldn't think any more than 1.00% V addition would be good. More than that and you'd get the S30V problem for you makers - difficult to get a high polish.CPM154 is very nice stuff !!
The .75 that CruForgeV has in it makes it enough of a bear to hand sand!!! I shudder to think what more vanadium would do.:D

So, if the new stuff contains a decent amount of Vanadium, does that mean Mr. Mayo will be calling it CPM154VV? :p;):D (easy, Tom. You know I luvz ya, Bro. But, only in a non ghey way, ok?)

:D
