CPM S110V Manix 2 Full Review and testing.

Thanks for the awesome review as usual. It's hard to pick a favorite knife but my s110v Manix is quickly becoming mine.

It's a nice knife, really light weight and the balance is still good.

Then S110V will hold an edge for a VERY long time.

Mr. Ankerson, thanks for taking the time on this great review. This is exactly the type of information that I, and I think many other folks, look for when we start looking at making a knife purchase. Your tests represent real use of a cutting instrument. I appreciate you taking the time.

700+ cuts on rope is one heck of a blade steel!! I was amazed at what M390 did, but this is M390 plus M4 combined cutting performance. :) I love these HCS, but they certainly require the right equipment to sharpen.

Anyway, thank you again, great read!

I try and keep things pretty simple and straight forward to avoid confusion while showing performance. :)

Thank you for for another great review. With your consistent methodology and the work you put into the testing and reporting, you have established the the Blade Forums standard for testing blade steel performance, imo. Congratulations on the respect you ve earned.

Nine months is nothing. I'm used to waiting for five years for a knife... :D

The thing is that Spyderco shipped all of these last summer. There's not going to be a second run. Unless you're in some remarkably remote location, it's not coming.

Ordered a Native 5 forum knife in S110V about nine months ago but have not received it to date. Starting to wonder if I ever will...

Who did you order this knife from? SFO was the only place they were available, apart from a couple of dealers that may have gotten a CC numbered knife.

Dang it Ankerson....you and Spyderco just cost me a Benjamin! :) Haha. I just picked one of these up. Come on, S110V steel at around $100? How could I not?

I'm remote to some but not really... We'll see and I will let you know how it goes.

The spring is stronger than the other ones so it might take some time to break it in.
Thanks for the heads-up. I'm REALLY looking forward to this knife--especially after your awesome review. I'm not really an EDC rotation kind of guy but as happy as I am with my present knife, I'm looking forward to this carrying one.

If you end up not liking it you won't lose any money on it, let's put it that way.... :D

I have been doing some research on s110v because I want that manix, but I cant find anything about the toughness of the steel. Is chipping a concern with s110v?

Not usually.

Just use it like you would S30V or 154CM and you will be fine.

Great review, thats the kind of thing that makes me even happier to have one in my pocket. I didnt test mine to the same degree as you, but I have been carrying and using it for 2 weeks now. Last friday I did some cardboard and wood cutting to get an idea of how the edge will hold up and it was still phonebook paper slicing when I finished but it wasnt completely clean, this was after using it all week too. I think s110v is my new favorite steel at this point, the edge retention is incredible and I love how it gets toothy and cuts so aggressively, it makes cutting work so much faster and easier.
