CPM S110V still up there?

I had hoped it would be obvious that I was talking about stainless steels.
It wasn't obvious based on your reply to my post. You asked what other steels compared after I mentioned corrosion resistance. Why would I assume you were exclusively talking about stainless steels??

Because I posted a chart about stainless steels and referenced the values contained therein?

Where it is ground breaking is in corrosion resistance in relation to the other attributes. There are similar performing steels if you discount the corrosion resistance.
Yes, a stainless CPM 4V.

I don't think we should marginalize the challenge of achieving a stainless 4V though.

You think I'm marginalizing Larrin's achievement of developing Magnacut?

I said it was ground breaking, meaning it broke new ground in metallurgy. In context, I was replying(mistaking what Chronovore Chronovore was saying) to the post saying that there were no other steels that matched Magnacut's toughness and edge retention.

BTW, this video on trying to rust Magnacut just came out.

I don't mean to steal S110V's thunder in its own thread but that's the thing with Magnacut. I feel like Magnacut sucked a lot of air out of the room for the more recently released S45VN and SPY27. A steel like S110V that was already sort of on the fringe... I'm sure this doesn't do S110V any favors.

S110V was famous for both extreme edge retention and extreme corrosion resistance. S110V already seems to have lost a lot of ground to S90V, against which the corrosion resistance seemed to be the main selling point. Now Magnacut grabbed the corrosion crown and has started taking over the Salt series. 🤷‍♂️

Those charts from knife informer etc aren't based on any actual testing data, the only chart that is based on actual controlled testing is from Knife Steel Nerds.

Shame on those that keep sharing these random charts that are based on asking random people's opinions not actually testing. Stop the confusion.

What do you expect? The so called knife community is a cesspit with mean IQs probably two standard deviations below the general public.

edit: if anyone doubt that's still the case, just browse around some of the knife making and knife steel articles on the en.wikipedia. It's like entering into some retrograde twilight zone.
