Well another test at KT,com shows this knife breaking very easily. I am disappointed to say the least.

Already being dicussed in the testing and review sub-forum.
I did not post it here because I figured it would stir trouble, which is exactly what a title like "CR Project Got Pwnd" does.
How about changing the title to "CR project tested".

Let it ride. Noss's tests are not quantitative. They could be described as demonstrations. Of what, let the viewer decide. As Noss seems unconcerned about any heat he might draw, I won't worry for him.

For those of us who have used CRK knives for years, that sort of test may not be relevent :D

I have some questions for CRK .

Should a one piece 0.255" A2 knife withstand hammering with a 3lb mallet ?

Do CRK consider it a catastrophic failure , or was it just abuse ?

In my CRK catalog 2005 , the skinner(Ubejane) is shown batoning with a 2x4 ,
the "note" says "wood is suitable , please do not use a metal pipe or hammer !"

That would lead me to think that using a 3lb mallet is abuse , but It say´s please do not , and not " don´t do it " .

Is it abuse , or will the lifetime guarantee cover it ?

IMO---This "testing" is knife abuse. Who would do these things to their knife? Do I condemn the Testing, no.

IMO...Noss's site is great to see how much crap a knife can take, but not necessarily geared towards how well the knife performs. He does a bit of field testing and seems to be unbiased while doing so. I"ve never needed to put a knife through 10% of what Noss puts knives through, so I doubt Mr. Reeve's knives would ever fail on me.

From wich language is the word "pwnd" ???:confused:

Regards,

Jos

It is 'net speak for "owned".

I hope this test doesn't harm CRK in anyway. IMO, Noss tests his ability to break knives much more so than the actual knives he breaks.

I agree with what he said. Anyone can destroy a knife! Big deal!! I wouldn't call what Noss4 does "tests"; it is destruction. It has nothing to do with real world use.:thumbdn::thumbdn: It means nothing to me. And I doubt Noss4's "tests" (and I use the term VERY loosely) would have ANY impact on CRK.

The test itself is not the big deal, it's how CRK reacts to it. The choice made for the previous green beret test was to essentially blow off and ignore customer concerns. Which, as I have pointed out, seems to be the standard response from CRK.

Dave, there's two schools of thought on that. When there is a serious challenge to quality, the knifemaker has to address it.

But when the challenge is abusive or subjective, the maker has a choice: respond, and keep the argument going -- an argument he cannot win, because it goes quickly to emotion and agenda -- or let it die.

Of course, those cruising on emotion and agenda will continue, but the maker doesn't have to legitimize them by acting as if they had a real point to make.

Excellent point Esav, CRK may feel it's beneath them to make a careful reply.

That's their choice, but these things don't go away unless they are addressed. The GB issue didn't go away really, IMO, it just added additional evidence that CRK doesn't seem to care.

From what language is the word "wich" from?

Unless you are fluent in dutch or french I suggest you give the guy a break. With the very likely exception of Esav Benyamin, it is a good bet that Jos speaks more languages than anyone else posting in this thread.

edit: I'd say great minds think alike but I'm only fluent (debatable) in one language. I can curse in 3 or 4 though!
