Crack On My 18"ak, Help!!!!!

That's quite an abuse test! where's Cliff Stamp when ya need him? This is his kind of test.

By the way, I came up with the perfect solution for khuk handle replacement when I was repairing handle damage to my 43" hand-and-a-half warsword. I wuz chopping at a shield with a metal rim, and the sword cut thru that and inches into the shield. One problem--the ling tang on the piece flexed to absorb the shock, and popped a big crack in the wooden handle (which didn't flex as much as the tang). after numerous attempts to fix, tape, or bind the handle together, I instead decided to pull the pommel off, and do aq stacked leather handle like you see on the KaBar USMC knnife. Wow! That did the trick. Now the sword tang can flex all it wants, and the rinngs stay in place and absorb the shock. I coated the leather rings with beeswax to prevent them from deteriorating, and it really gives a good grip to hand or glove.

I bet this would work with khuks, too, and if I ever shatter a handle, thats the replacement I'll do, just for simplicity and looks. You can dye and shape the leather before the waxing.
