Cragganmore 12 Year Scotch

Great pics Lunde!!
I was really hoping to find the Rebel Yell because Jerry recommended it but I am really liking the Knob Creek.
I tried it neat but prefer it over the rocks.
To each his own I suppose.
Thank you for the guidance. I'm sure I will more questions in the future.

Oh, and here's a quickie snapshot of the "thing" that I picked up this morning:

Hey Lunde,

Hope you like the "thing" that you picked up! Being a noob here, perhaps I should have mentioned that i'm a proud Kentucky boy and I've had A LOT of whiskey. Now, I love my Bourbon, and I drink it more often than I drink the Scotch. But I also love my Scotch. And sometimes you need that Scotch to punch you in the face and roll you over into a dense fog. Enjoy!

Oh, while I drink most Scotch neat, this one I will cut with a bit of water. It's "quarter cask" strength after all, as in 30% more surface contact with the barrel and 96 proof.

I went looking for this today and sadly I couldn't find it. They had the 10 and 18 year but no Quarter Cask. I asked if they had any in the back and they didn't. I came home with a bottle of Buffalo Trace and Maker's Mark **. I almost grabbed a bottle of Rebel Yell Reserve. Has anyone tried this yet?

** Maker's Mark, which I'm drinking right now, seems to spark quite a debate when discussed. It's been described as boring...too simple.....flat etc. It's just plain good to me. Sometimes I don't want overly complex or sophisticated.

Plain awesome to me too! I get lots of vanilla (which I like), very easy and relaxing spirit. A true staple for me.

While I am more of a bourbon person than a scotch person, I picked up a bottle of Cragganmore 12 Year scotch today. A friend suggested it, even knowing that I am more of a bourbon person. Anyway, I asked my LSAS (Local Spirits Acquisition Specialist) to let me know when some came in, and that day was yesterday. I picked it up this morning.

Is anyone here familiar with this particular scotch?

Yes Ken I have some of that at the house...it tasted like whiskey....with a scotchy aftertaste  lol

Old Boy south of town makes some pretty good Spirits. Comes in either a Mason or Kerr jar. It's got quite a kick to it but if your drinking for effect it will get the job done with out breaking the bank. ;)

Well, I cracked open the Cragganmore, and am working on a glass at the moment. Honestly, I am not digging the taste. I think I'll need to open a bottle of bourbon tomorrow. My wife likes scotch, so it will not be wasted.

No problem. That's why they make so many malts!:D

Hope your wife will like it and I know you will find another dram that suits.

My wife informed me this morning that she likes the Cragganmore, so all is well in our household. That sort of "green lights" the opening of the Laphroaig.

Now I just know that will not disappoint.:)

So how was the Laphroaig? Thinking about picking one up. I can't imagine five days have passed and the bottle is still untouched.
