Crap bark river cub 3v

If you mean send it back to be fixed:
1. I have to pay return shipping. Why should I pay anything more? I shouldn't have to.
2. I don't trust them to fix it without ruining the temper or messing something else up
3. I can fix it myself and know it's done right

If you mean return it for a refund:
1. I have to pay return shipping
2. I like the design of the knife, just not the poor execution. Once I fix it, it will be the knife I wanted and paid for.

My issue is that for the prices they charge, these knives shouldn't have these kinds of issues and definitely not this many.

The reason I made this post is because I read a good number of reviews talking about quality issues. I decided to take a calculated risk and got a subpar knife. So now my voice joins the reviews of other discontented customers. Contrary to fan boy belief, I'm not bashing the brand. I'm stating exactly what the company gave me and that I won't purchase from them again.
I mean for a refund..

I mean obviously do what you want, but I have to think that return shipping would be less than15 bucks, probably a lot less. How much is your time worth?

Also, if you can't trust the things you see how much do you trust other things you can't like say the heat treatment? Are you confident there isn't a fatal flaw in that knife waiting to fail at the worst possible instant? I wouldn't be...

Or I'll fix it myself since the company couldn't do it right the first time.
I wouldn't trust them to fix it without ruining the temper.

I guess some people don't mind overpaying for subpar craftsmanship. To each their own.
Did you ever get around to trying to fix it? If so, I would love to see it. I would like to see at least one well executed Cub in this world. LOL

Worth noting, there were several threads specific to the poor execution of this run of Cubs floating around the BRK FB group, and in true blind fanboy fashion, they were shouted down and deleted by the group admins. The OPs were even banned in some cases.

Wow truly horrible customer service.

I fixed the rough fuller, but I ran out of epoxy so I haven't fixed the Mosaic pins yet.

I had a handful of barkies before the steel “mislableing” mishap and they werent bad.

Bravo series were way over rated.

The 3V Aurora and Liten Bror that I had were fantastic and I wish I had not sold them. The rest rest were not inspiring.

Every Bark River I’ve owned has been flawless. Some people call for warranty work or return the knife when they have an issue… others post a thread bashing the brand and abandon all hope. To each their own.
I only own two Bark River knives. Bark River Aurora and Canadian Camp. Both came with flaws such as nicked handle slabs (from what looks like the edge of the belt from a grinder, right in front of the ricasso area), and the other one had unsharpened areas. Both have proud tangs and pins, just like the handle slabs had shrunk after installing them and refining the handle.

I like the knives so I sharpened the dull one and the nicks in handle don't bother much. But both flaws where very apparent to the naked eye and should have been noticed during the QC, or at the very least, by the seller I bought the knives from.

I live in Spain and I bought them in the US, so any warranty claims are out of the question. Overseas shipping is very expensive compared to the price of the knives.

I have owned dozens of Bark Rivers, and I would say only 5-10 have been close to what I would call “flawless”. And to your excellent point, most issues could have been caught with minimal QC.

I wonder if BR is trying to produce more than they are able to do?
I've had my own business.......making and repairing jewelry.
Becoming successful is wonderful. Although if your volume grows and you rush and lower quality. Your customer's are not getting the quality they came to you for and you lose you reputation.

I wouldn't be pumped about that either. You could easily return the knife for a refund.
Yeah the problem with that is many of these issues are on limited run knives that sell out quickly. So if you like the design you are stuck either returning it and not getting the knife you wanted or hoping they fix it to your satisfaction in a reasonable time frame or fixing it yourself. Simplest solution is not to buy from companies that don’t make an honest effort to fix their production processes and hide behind fanboys and heavy-handed moderation.

I have a few older Bark River knives that I like and use; a Persian, a Sandstorm and a Bravo EDC. That said, their numerous quality issues and even worse, horrible customer service responding to these issues, guarantees I'll never buy another one. The quality issues are bad enough but the arrogant / angry responses from the owner are way worse and completely unacceptable. I cannot support that type of company.
