Crap bark river cub 3v

Yeah the problem with that is many of these issues are on limited run knives that sell out quickly. So if you like the design you are stuck either returning it and not getting the knife you wanted or hoping they fix it to your satisfaction in a reasonable time frame or fixing it yourself. Simplest solution is not to buy from companies that don’t make an honest effort to fix their production processes and hide behind fanboys and heavy-handed moderation.

I guess I just don't understand why you would keep this one and say you would never buy another, but you like it enough to keep (buy) this one. I don't blame you for making the post at all, but you must think it's worth what you paid for it if you're keeping it.

I've had exactly one knife from Bark River. It was made in 2022. The scale fit was a little off. The grind was a little off. There were rough spots. It had a bur at the tip. I ended up returning it.

My sample size was one but based on other things I've read here, I'm all set on this brand.

While I am more than happy to share my displeasure with their current blatant lack of quality control, to be fair, one reason I am so frustrated is because they have proven that they were once capable of better. Some of their older stuff I have is damn near custom quality fit & finish. However, until somebody with a good head on their shoulders is put in charge of BRK and rights the ship, they will not get another cent from me.

The cosmetic stuff I can live with, but bad heat treat will kill the knife. Make sure your cub isn't like my fox river...

That looks like you tried to chop steel rod and then batonned a brick/rock... but sadly I know all that is from wood.

I had Cold Steel Peace Maker 3 do the same. But that thing cost me 25€ and was 4116 steel... this is Elmax and 200€ 😅

I'd like to think I was fighting a Terminator but...

Sadly it was a piece of wood I was trying to make into a walking stick.

I would add that my two 3V bark rivers have been exceptional. My Bravo 1.5 has been beaten on for 3 years now and I haven't even sharpened it yet.

I own only one bark river I purchased in the early 2000s, about 20 years ago. It is a kephardt model in 3v with black micarta scales. It has held up well and no obvious flaws that I can tell. I would bought more BR knives but they started to have production problems and never seemed to have any of the knives I wanted in stock. Their wood scales always looked gorgeous. So I turned my attention to other brands and pretty much assumed BR was defunct. I am surprised they still produce knives. I had a chance to stop in the old marbles store in Escanaba back in the day. That part of the UP was known for its knife making. Too bad they could not keep up with quality production

That sucks. I like BRK in general but for the price, go get a AA Forge knife on a Friday night drop, you can thank me later!!!!!

I stopped buying Bark River knives after I bought my first AA Forge!!!!!

Well, you now have a 200$ serrated blade!

Joke aside, I have cut metal rod with knives, work convenient reason, and the damage does look different than what shown there, though it could still be forged damage (mind the pun). Nevertheless, with so many knives from this company all appear to have the same issue, and the fact that they are not even top of their price range, I choose to believe thwt the damage is not fake.

I’ve had a run in with their management, so personally, I won’t even buy from dealers who carry Bark River knives. To many other dealers for me to trust one who cares so little they sell Bark River.
