I hate you guys.... Well, not so much that I hate you as much as my bank account does (and my parent's will if I don't get control of this thing!).

So, I'm craving knives, the problem is, right now I've only got about $42 to my name (minus what I can't put in the bank yet, which is about $34, less after I buy my lil brother something to eat tonight).

I need you guys to do something for me. That is decide my new EDC knife, the options are:

A. BK11 (sheath will be stock until I get more funds in my bank account)

B. $8 mall ninja folder from the internet

C. None at all.

Please help me...

I voted for save your money, but not because you don't know what you're doing, but because if you are patient and save your money, you'll be able to buy something that you really like/want. Don't let that money burn a hole in your pocket!

ETA: Holy crap, when did I turn into my dad? I sound just like him.

If you are seriously looking for an EDC knife what are some of your every day uses. If you are looking for an excuse to buy an 11 go for it. I just did. That must mean all the cool kids are doing it ;) But then again I already have a 14 :)

D. Mora?
Can be had for about half that. Life's short though..

But it's not full tang, and while it's a good knife, it's more on my want than need list...

The same thing you would use yours for, and some bushcraft.

One $80 dollar knife will do you a lot more good than ten $8 knives.

But if you must, I guess the 11. 14 = awesomer though.

I have been EDCing my Phat bob since i got it and i really like it. It was about 45, but that's not something I would use for bush craft. I say go with the 11 or 14 if you are looking for something to pull double duty. I love my 14 and had scales on it from the beginning. It really is a little workhorse of a knife. I use it for food prep in the kitchen all the time. I am looking forward to seeing how the 11 handle compares to the 14. I do speak highly of the 14. I don't see how getting an 11/14 would be a bad idea though. They are awesome.

Save your money. I take it you dont have a job?

I do have a job, but its seasonal, Boy Scout summer camp!

That's why I got into Becker's, but my dilemma is money, if I had $80, it would be no question.

If you need a knife now I would say the 11 since it's on your list and the 14 isn't. There are ways to make the 11 stock sheath work if you look around here. Personally I would (and did) pick the 14 over the 11. On Tomar's the 14 is actually $3 cheaper than the 11.

Then take your Becker and introduce the Boy Scouts to it. Start growing a new generation of Becker fans.

How old are you Oxide, if I may ask?

17, 18 in February.

I'm not worried about $3, it's the looks of the 11 I like better, and I want a minimalist mini pry bar (the bottle opener) so I can call it a one piece tool instead of a fixed blade knife when I introduce it to my boss at summer camp, and the Scoutmasters.

Phat Bob, 11, 14 are all great choices. I have each and rotate often, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

For cheap folder, look at the Dozier folders, not the phat bob ( thoughthats an awesome knife) but the ones with Zytel handles. Great folder for $18 on Tomar's and they come in cool colors. In terms of a fixed blade, I'd say 14. How many bottles you plan to open when you're 17? Lol ok bad question, I work in a high school, I should know better lol.
