I'm I just crazy that I sit with my collection spread out before me and think about which knife I should take with me when I venture out in to the woods??? I sometimes vasilate back and forth 3-4 times in a week...The strange thing is that I only face this dillemma with my med sized blades I'm happy with my sak, happy with my machete cant't get setled on my fixed blade though...lately it seems to be a constant struggle between my woodswalker, and my mora clipper...just wanted to make sure I'm not alone out there.

I know what you mean. I am actually glad I can't decide, it's an excuse to go get some more knives and having fun with the endless search for the perfect knife.
It reminds me of the old japanese expression, "you could spend your whole life searching for the perfect cherry blossom, and it would not be a wasted life."

Might we face a bear attack today or may we need to build a raft to sail us to safety.......finished up just having to use it to cut my sandwich in half...damn, wrong knife again !!!

It's never easy mate...we all do it !!!!

Hey Guys..

RR..

Don't listen to 2Dogs,, he doesn't know what he's talking about :)

I can't tell you how often I get into trouble with my wife,, while I'm trying to decide what knife to take....

It's only like our other halves stressing over which handbag or shoes to take out with them !!!

During the winter i had my fixed blades on my desk all the time. I could just pick them up and sort through them, picking out what I was in the mood for that day. Now it's the same with folders. I just enjoy the variety. If I just want to make a small fire in the snow, I'd bring my smallest puukko. If I wanted to do some more serious work, I'd bring my kuhkuri / mora combo. Now that it's summer, I just bring whatever SAK I'm EDCing, sometimes an Opinel, and only bring out a fixed blade if I plan to build a shelter or something.

Heck, I sometimes just like to see how many I can fit on myself at one time or picking one to play with while I watch TV. I think it is a good thing to be so indecisive about what to take out into the woods as it justifies buying "just one more knife" to fill that void and put an end to all the questioning (of course it never does).

"Does this folder go with my shoes?"

Lucky for me, I do not have this issue. (yet)

lol. I'm so close to matching this comment.

I have an EDC folder that I wear with my normal casual (jeans) wear, and another folder that's my "dress up" knife for when I wear a suit or at least slacks. So, yeah, I worry about how my folders go with my clothes. Not that I'm sick or anything.

Good news is, I only have two fixed blades and they match all the shoes that I own. ;)

I have my favorites, but the choice is still pretty tough for me. I have it narrowed down to two or three now.

P.S. I have a feeling that we are all a little crazy!

I definitely have more fixed blades than I have shoes, but still I keep looking for the perfect blade.
Does that make me a girls blouse... ??

Your question is flawed because of the group you've asked it to. Hehe. I do the same thing. Every time I go out into the wild. But you've asked a bunch of folks with the same CRAZY as you. Thats not going to get you a good solid response. Its like a heroin addict asking the rest of the addicts if he's had too much.....

where i live is in the woods. so i keep some of my fixed blades by the door and grab one as i go out like some people do with umbrellas.

Its not really so crazy. At least knives can perform some practical functions. And as long as collecting doesn't get out of hand regarding size or excessive expenditures its all ok.
And there are weirder hobbies than knife collecting. One of my aunts has about a million beany-babies and also collects those Humel statuette things. I saw a guy on tv who collections pop/cola. He has walls full of full bottles of Pepsi/Coke/RC etc etc, some of them are 50 years old or more!
Personally I am genetically predispositioned to be a packrat but have forced myself out of that habit by sheer willpower. Knives and cds are the only collecting things i buy any more.
