Crazy???

Tell me more about your trail blazer. Where's the blade from? What steel? How thick? What wood is the handle? How'd you attach it?

Cool, btw. Did I mention I like it?? Looks rustic, like maybe Jim Bowie might have used it in a knife fight or something.   Good work!

haha, well have a 9" blade, is about 1/8 of an inch, I wanted it thin because it was used back in Nova Scotia, and in my area was mostly spruce, and soft woods. As for the steel, I cant say for sure, it is carbon, and is fairly hard, I would say close to 60 Hrc, and the handle was horrible treated maple (first knife) and they were just attaced by aluminum pins that were epoxied into place. But the steel came from My grand fathers house after he died, and we were cleaning out his shop. He had alot of knives made laying around, and diffrent pieces of steel aswell. As he like to make them Alot, thats were I got it from. I was hopping he had some of this blue steel he called it lying around, but I never found any. He allways talked about it, he used it alot when he was younger making knives.

There are Japanese knives offered today in Hitachi Blue Steel...I wonder if it's the same steel you're referring to? If so, you may be able to find an importer and purchase some.

I dont know, its hard to say. I know that hatachi stuff is definetly expensive, but I dont know about my gradnfather using it, he was cheap  :D

But, then again, he would have used it in the 40s and 50s, so it really is hard to say. I just dont know about the steel that was around then.
