Creek Stewart/Fat Guys in the Woods

Watched 2 episodes yesterday. I like the format.
Also watched another show titled "Think you'd Survive?" (or something like that...) and found it to be quite educational.

Watched another episode last night. Starting a fire using the gum wrapper and AA battery was interesting. I've seen a 9V battery and steel wool used before. I also found it interesting that he had the guys battoning across grain with the "light use, fragile" mora.

Hey all, I'm new here. A search for the knife rig Creek gave to participants at the end of each episode brought me. I signed up awhile back and have been browsing forums. Looks like a very informational place. I couldn't find a section for a proper intro thread so forgive me if I missed it.

The reason I'm reviving this thread, so to speak, is because today on Creek's Facebook page I saw where they were asking for people to apply via email. I did it on a whim and within an hour I got a call from California wanting to speak to me about the show. I missed the call but they left a voicemail and when I returned the call I had to leave a message as well. I'm really interested to see what comes of it.

Anyway, thanks for letting me creep through the forums. Looks like a great place.

Welcome! There are lots of fun, interesting people and a ton of good info here; I think you'll enjoy it.

I too noticed that FGITW has been picked up for a second season, and they're looking for motivated people to participate in it. Go for it!

Thanks for the welcome. Loving the forums so far.

I called back and left a message but haven't heard back. If by some miraculous chance I get on I'll keep everyone posted. :)

Got a call back yesterday. They set up a Skype interview for tomorrow morning and sent me more info to fill out.

I don't know if anyone cares or not, but there it is. lol

So I checked the show out after reading this thread. It was pretty cool. They seem to teach a few outdoor skills each episode. Didn't seem like a bunch of bs like some of these types of shows. It was about getting people back in touch with nature and working as a team as well as solo stuff.

I liked it anyway.

And good luck Mr. Nelson! Keep us all posted.

Will do. I had a Skype interview and many email correspondences as well as phone calls. I've been asked to be discreet for the time being.

Hadn't heard of it before this thread... DVR'd a bunch of episodes. I'm on my third and so far I'm liking this a lot more than most of these "survival" shows. It's pretty straight forward and doesn't feel so fake.

I agree with Kane and Dex and most of you... I liked the show for several reasons and this Stewart guy seems pretty reasonable. I think he and I would have a nice productive time if we went camping or "surviving" together, and would likely have some fun conversations around the campfire once we got our stuff squared away.

Some... OK, nearly ALL... of the other survival-TV-guys... nah. They seem like a bunch of blowhard ego-maniacs that would just annoy me :D

Glad to hear it's decent. I don't have cable or satellite TV, and had never heard of the show until two days ago when I was contacted about doing some location scouting and guiding. Scouted today and will finish tomorrow, and I'll be guiding for the producers in December and it looks like filming in February. Will be a very different environment than Tennessee!

You got me excited. :)

Hope to hear back from them soon.

Came to give an update. I can't say much (per producers requests), and the process from October until now has been a long one so I'll keep it short: I made it.
