Congratulations! Maybe you can tell us what episode when it's OK to do so? I'm sure many here will watch.

I saw a FGITW marathon last week. I consider it a more mellow version of the survival shows you see. Not a dig against it, in fact, it is a more realistic approach and more based on character-building and self-discovery. Somewhat formulaic, but it hasn't gotten old to me so far. Aside from the rare medical emergency, I think the guys Creek Stewart goes into the woods with aren't in any real danger of starving. I wonder if anyone with enough fat can go well past three weeks without food. With enough water, going mad or weak with hunger probably is the bigger, more immediate problem.

3 weeks without food is the standard. While different people (not necessarily McBapie's) might "live" past 3 weeks without food, their functions are DRASTICALLY decreased and their mental state wouldn't allow for much of anything. The "rule of 3's" has been adopted for every survival instructor and military for a reason. :)

It's a good way to get the info out but the word "rule" is a bit misleading. "General guideline of 3's" just doesn't have as nice of a ring to it. :D

Edit: ...and good luck on the show. I'm sure I'll watch it. Maybe you can do a tip of the hat or something so we know you when we see you.

I will. I assume this is what you were scouting for.

Indeed, it will be MUCH different than TN, which I expected. I have vacationed in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge my entire life. I hike there and hunt on the WV/VA border every year. I'm comfortable there.

This trip will take me FAR outside my comfort zone. :) I can't wait.

EDIT: It's funny to me that I found BF while searching for Creek's knife rig and now I'm going to be on the show.
 
Good luck on the show and the adventure. So, the next group of shows won't be in the Smoky Mt area? I like the show. It tends to keep things simple and each show demonstrates some worthwhile woods skill. I was under the impression that last season's shows were a week's "adventure" versus three weeks.
 
Good luck, if you want the SK5 Blackbird and the Hedgehog rig,that Stuart carries you got to step up to the plate and stand out as helpful to others and no complaining. Good luck hope you do okay we will all be in your corner, keep us posted.

I don't even know if they're doing that again this year. I am not going to assume anything. They may change it up though so guys don't try too hard just for the knife.

I'm really excited as I have been looking at going to a survival school or two for years. Now I get to. :)

Whether or not they give the rig out is irrelevant to me. Don't get me wrong; it's a GREAT little token. I'm just not going to expect anything.
