I don't get the size. At over 3" it's self defeating at marketing to knife restricted zones or countries.

My thoughts exactly. As someone that lives in a city with a 3” blade limit, that .1” is as maddening as it is pointless.

I overlooked the backspring the first time I saw that video with the clear scales. Hard not to focus in on the pivot mechanism.

Agreed.

My other issue is the huge pivot. With the finger groove that far back, it reminds me of a Cold Steel. A 4” handle should have more usable real estate than that knife has.

I'm here primarily for the nostalgia, and that knife doesn't move the "nostalgia needle" at all for me. I'd vote "NO" in a poll.
Out of curiosity, is it a good whittling knife?

I call it the "neato gauge". I like "nostagia needle"--KV

Heres the the thing . And this is only my personal opinion. Its based on appearance not workmanship ,quality and certainly not cost.
If it wants to be traditional it should look traditional. That is to say old and 1960ish at the very latest preferably older.
In fact ..the only traditional feature about it is that it is a knife.
Sorry
Its a resounding no from me

You might of missed this posted by Frank when discussing what fits in the forum....

"Guidelines for defining the "fine line":
Modern materials - OK - we do those anyhow.
Modern shapes - maybe.
Pocket clips - nope
thumb studs or other non-traditional opening devices - nope"

And since the clip is removable....if fits just fine here...

If the knife showed up in the daily carry thread, without showing the pocket clip, it'd probably get a pass. With a clip it's a no go.
I don't see any reference on Chris Reeve's website that indicates whether the clip is removable or not.
Looks like a nice knife, as all of Chris's knives are.
knarfeng knarfeng I'll let Frank weigh in also, if he has a mind to.

I agree with Gary. If this knife were posted in the "What knife are ya totin'" thread without the clip showing, I'd probably let it go.

To me, the reason to have a thread devoted to this knife in the Traditional Forum is to explore the definition of "what is a traditional pocket knife." Neither Gary nor I consider this a traditional pattern. Slip joint or not, clip or not, it does not have a traditional look to it, though I am certain that it's a gorgeous piece of cutlery.

At this point, I think it's best to close the thread.
