Strider pros;1) Solid, nut and bolt construction.
2)The Strider HT is outstanding.
Both of these folders have changed the knife world.

How to Clean your SMF or SnG
DO NOT TAKE IT APART!
SPRAY IT WITH WD40 AND CLEAN OFF THE EXCESS WITH A RAG AND Q-TIPS

Directly from them to you...take it for what it's worth...

Yes I read the same thing. It doesn't say if you take it apart you warranty is void,it's that it's not necessary to take apart to clean or maintain.

If they void the warranty for polishing screws....its not a far jump to imagine voiding the warranty for disassembly...I'm not looking to start a war...I just feel that for a knife that's supposed to be so hard core...why have such a stringent set of rules...they won't even send screws out? Really?

Strider has gotten WAY too many knives back that have been totally screwed up over the years due to pimping and other assorted idiotic things so they changed their warranty to what it currently is. ;)

Had nothing to do with using their knives at all.......

Given enough time people can screw up a good thing...... So we can thank the morons in the world for that one....

It's a tuff call on this one IMO.

I have Sebenzas and I have Striders, and love all of them lol.

I would go with the Large Sebenza first and then whichever Strider you prefer.

Either way you go you can't go wrong.

The Zaan is a better comparison to a Strider IMHO but having had Sebenza's, Zaan's , SNG's and SMFs, I'd go with the SMF :D Oh, you didn't offer that option up? :)

All great options and all beg for individual tastes as the deciding factor. But at the end of the day, buy the knife and not the MFG if you get my drift. You gain nothing except your internal convictions by avoiding certain hard products based on MFG history and reputation. All that should matter after you lay your money down is getting a product that makes you happy and getting a product the MFG stands behind and in the case of CRK and Strider, you are in good hands customer service-wise . . .

I've had both, and I'll sum it up like this:

CRK:

Strider:

Both great, but for completely different reasons. Top notch manufacturing tolerances and looks to die for: CRK. Super tough, go anywhere, do anything: Strider.

hard choice lol. . . eventually you'll have all of them. . . here's the order I got them in.

large sebenza 21
umnamzaan
strider sng gg
strider smf cc

out of all of them, the smf gets the most carry time (may be cause its the newest lol)

probably didnt help you out at all. . . lol.

Their 2 completely different knives, if you want something that looks nice and pretty get the crk. If you want a real workhorse get the strider

Archie and other who have owned or do own the Sebenza 25, how does that one stack into the mix? It is supposed to be beefier, stronger, and maybe more tactical?

As far as the 21 vs. the SNG, my pick would be depending on what preferences suit you best. For me, grip, ergonomics, stonewash finish, super cool look and total fun = Strider. Then impressive quality, blade length, configuration options (handle inlaids and damascus, insingo blades), and customer service = CRK. Tough choice and you can't go wrong with either.

They will fix your knife under just about any circumstances. That whole spill you quoted above came about after a guy salvaged 20 striders which were burnt up in a fire, and wanted Strider to honor their warranty. Of course they didn't, because there was nothing left to fix. MAYBE the Ti side could have been reused, but everything else, down to the blades, was toast.

I've taken apart literally EVERY strider I've owned, and I've also modified some of them. Guess what? I've sent two of those in, and they were worked on no questions asked.

What you're telling me is in direct contradiction to what they put in writing...is that right? It makes no difference to me as I haven't done anything to void my warranty and yes I own one of their products. (Yes, just one...the only one that interests me) The real point is...if they put that in writing...why would anyone question it? (they are rather adamant of those points)

I have a Strider SMF and a Large Sebenza Micarta and they are both great in different ways but I was going to get the Sebenza first until I saw heard about ECCKS and decided to save up for a couple more months and get them both at the same time. I would say get them both at the same time if you are willing to wait to have the money for both because I love to hold one and admire why a strider is great and love how it feels like a tank but I also love my Sebenzas for the fit and finish and the great high class feel they give. They are both unbelievable knives and if you want them you are most likely going to buy both at one time or another.

Have a CRK...love it.
Have several Striders.....love them.
That being said,I feel the SNG is tougher.

Would I buy another Reeve....I don't know.
Would I buy another Strider.....Hell yes.

Both are good knives. Strider has more steel choices(CTS-XHP, 3V, Z-wear, CPM154, CPM110v) and better heat treat from my experience. CRK has perfect fit and finish. CRK doesn't refurb their knives for free, but they do a great job in my experience. CRK tends to have better resell values if you buy the knife new and may sell it down the road, unless you get a limited steel or variant SnG. I've had 3 Umnumzaan's and all 3 were like Swiss watches, but I have a SnG CC CPM154 digicam in my pocket right now.
