CRK owners what other knives,,,,,

MACHETE

What would life be without affordable machetes to mod and beat like the sub 20 dollar utility godsends that they are???

The 15 year old plus beater that had been trashed and sharpened relentlessly still has it. Best 18 dollars I ever spent. Seriously:p

I don't collect, but I use Victorinox, Benchmade and Kershaw knives for various purposes. Plus the Ontario pilot knife Uncle Sam gave me 40 years ago.

If my Sebenza hadn't been a gift from an old friend, my primary EDC would probably be a Mini-Griptilian.

Other CRK folders I carry a Microtech Scarab and sometimes a Spyderco. As for fixed blades, when it's not a CRK one piece knife it's pretty much just Busse or customs (Jimmy Chin, Kiku, Warren Thomas....).

I have a fairly large collection of knives but I am a bit particular about my users. :)

I got rid of most of my collection of production and custom pieces in favor of only knives that I'll regularly use. Right now it's pretty much CRK, Busse, Spyderco, Victorinox, Case, and a few random ones from the other major slipjoint manufacturers.

FOLDER

The Sebenza is THE FOLDER to me

An all time favorite knife fixed or folding

EKI is where I ventured into the 'higher end folders'

I thought this would be my last

Then I saw this

These two here really got me going though

I have quite a few other EKI's and love the knives and company.

Since I bought my first sebenza years ago, I have not carried an EKI. Just bought them.

Anyhow, I lost that 'search for the perfect knife' when I found the sebenza.

Lots of crap for a simple question but it just triggered something weird. Made me realize I came down to Sebenza, Busse, Machete and I am good:D

Fun thread.

Generally a CRK folding knife is my EDC. Usually my Umnum or Large Regular. My "nice" knife is an african blackwood inlayed small classic.

Otherwise I have-
Several Swamprat knives (fixed)
One Busse (obviously fixed)
One Fallkniven F1
Couple of ESEE's (fixed)
Sold most of my Benchmades and Spydercos except for a BM5000 Auto, an Endura and a Lava
Few Leatherman multitools
Have a DPX-Gear HEST/F LE on the way
Have a WDZ Azrael in the works and I own one Boker slipjoint and a few miscellaneous SAK's :)

I don't own any knives that I don't use.

I used to have a massive collection of Spyderco Military's sadly, lack of work in the past 9 months has found all but two users new homes.

I still have a handful of Microtech knives in the collection.

I also am lucky enough to have three of Jeff Harkins works of art.

Two Striders: PT, SnG. A couple older microtechs.
I used to collect Benchmade Bali-songs, but they have gotten too expensive recently that I lost interest. Now CRK's take up most of my time.

Spyderco. Waiting patiently for the ultimate Spyderbenza collaboration between these two fine companies. Nothing reported from this year's SHOT show but I'm not giving up hope. A round hole on a Seb. Can't wait! Yowza!! :D

Hinderer, Strider, Benchmade, various customs.

I have two DPX HEST/F's on the way. One an LE sterile and the other a straight up production version that I suspect will be pretty quickly incorporated into my edc rotation upon arrival.

I like CRK very much and am planning on picking up a CRK/Wilson Startac in the very near future, but I have to admit that Hinderer's are my favorite.

I just have a thing for heavy, robust knives and the XM~18 (along with the ZT/H 0551) fit the bill quite nicely.

This is very informative guys and interesting,,,,I just bought a Hinderer XM-18 3" so it will be fun compareing it to the Seb when it arrives. : )

I think you'll find they are very different knives. Sort of like comparing apples to oranges.

Both awesome but with very different flavors. All depends on what you're in the mood for. . .

Mostly CRK's is what I collect

Others that I have are Hinderer, Emerson, SAK's & Spyderco (all are working knives)

I'm trying to resist starting a slip joint collection (This could be the end of my marriage, LOL)

For me it's CRK and Strider......I'd love a Hinderer 3" XM-18 but not sure how comfortable I'd feel using a $600 knife on the construction site:rolleyes:

I don't really collect - I'm just constantly on the search for the "perfect knife" for me.

Spyderco, BM, Hinderer, Cold Steel, Gerber, Buck, Kershaw, Zero Tolerance, Strider - you get the picture. I like to try a lot of different knives - all with the intent of using them. If I find that I'm not carrying it, or it just doesn't fit me well - I sell it or give it to my son or a friend.

The search continues..........

...but I do love large folders, including Benchmades, Microtechs, customs, anything large and made in the States. I've resisted the temptation to get a Hinderer thus far, but they're definitely on my radar.

As far as fixed blades, I love 'em all. CRK, Busse, Benchmade, ESEE, you name it. I think ESEE's got the best bang for the buck of any production fixed-blade knife company at the moment. Versatility base on size with fixed blades vary for me. My current favorite 4" fixed blade is the Skookum Bush Tool. My favorite big-honking bushwhacker is my older Cold Steel Carbon V Kukri. I also have custom "collector" pieces, but I do not use them, and thus do not count them in my practical, everyday fold. They come out of the gunsafe infrequently to be photographed, or to be traded or sold.

I've yet to find that perfect fixed blade, and go back and forth with toting a large fixed blade and a more compact one, such as the Skookum. The perfect edc folder was a no-brainer, however, when discovering the small Seb over ten years ago.

Cool thread. I love reading you all's responses.

Professor.
