Wow, cutting wire with a Damascus blade, I was just about to start a thread asking if anyone used their Damascus, and how it held up to wear. I guess this starts to answer my question. 👍👍
What if the edge of the blade comes in contact with the cast ac compressor bracket?![]()

It would be a better outcome than nicking the AC line
The reall question is why are you cutting the belt? If your replacement is the incorrect size, you have nothing to run on until you get the correct size, and if the vehicle is not completely stock, you may need a special length belt that would be a LOT easier to size if the belt were not cut. I ran a shop for 20 years...there were only about 4 or 5 instances where a belt was cut for good reason (that was among 20 techs).
No AC lines in sight
Two reasons I cut this belt:
A: Its quicker. I get paid by the job, no matter how long it takes.
2: This is a non-reusable "stretchy" belt with no tensioner, cutting it is how you remove it.
The vehicle isnt leaving until the job is done, so not having something to use until the correct part arrives is a non-issue.
The vehicle is completely stock, this is the vehicle line I specialize in so noting aftermarket equipment is something Im skilled at.
Ive been a professional tech for 15 yrs, ASE and factory Master and Advanced level specialist certified, I cut almost every belt unless the system utilize a special tensioner, like for a BAS system, or if the customer requests to keep the belt as a spare.
I guess those are trans cooler lines in the lower right, wouldn't want to nick those either![]()
