Not to mention that unless you're <25, or maybe even if you are, it's pretty darned hard to even see what you're supposed to be proo-reading on a phone screen...for me anyway... :D...but this is OT...

got me :D.im usally on a droid at work with no time to proof read.:o

I just want to say that I received a call this morning regarding my own little CRK warranty issue and I am very impressed. They went well above and beyond my expectations on making the problem right. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be a CRK customer/user for life.

I have a feeling Spydusse with too. ;)

I do love my nyala. Its got the beef of a fixed but thanks to the hollow grind it cuts as well if not better then some of my folders.that knife will be with me for a long time. So yes I will be a lifetime owner of crks. I want to get a startac umnum when they switch to s35vn also. I used my cousins regular umnumzaan at work for a week and really enjoyed it

I always considered the Nyala as a fized blade version of a large regular sebenza........I have seen tons of pics, its definitely on my wish list ( gotta stop buying other CRK's forst though...lol ).

I love the Umnumzaan. I had all 3 for awhile, the regular , tanto, and startac version, but recently sold the startac as the regular just felt better in my hand. I have used my original for EVERYTHING, even cutting shingles using the swedge and its still in amazing shape. I do want to get the updated version eventually. Its a true workhorse and is the creation of what Chris has learned about making folders all rolled up into one.

I was happily suprised how much thicker it is then the lg sebenza when I got it in person. Videos and pics just don't do that beuty justice.

I usually try out a new CRK every hunting season. I have tried mostly OPR and have settled on the Ubejane Skinner as it has performed above and beyond what I could ever expect a knife to do. And die-hard hunters out there wondering what is the best knife to carry, this is it. Two years ago, we field dressed 3 whitetails, skinned and quartered them up before the hair shaving edge dwindled a little. 6 swipes per side on my sharpmaker and that hair shaving edge was back. Amazing performance, even out shined my previous hunting favorites, the CRK Sable IV and Vintage Buck Kalinga........Ubehane all the way.

I would love to try the Nyala though and see how it compares.

Part of me is thinking, good lord, why is this thread still going?! But, I also want to say thanks to the OP. I feel your pain! I haven't had this exact situation arise, but I've experienced similar problems. I'm totally new to CRK. I just got my first small seb 21 last week and already have a large 21 on the way. The one I have already is everything a CRK should be. If anything, this thread tells me that I should hit up CRK at the first sign of a problem.

If it was me, I probably wouldve just had them re profile the edge, but I do understand why you don't want that. Seems that this doesn't happen often though, which is good!

Hope the new blade works out for you my friend!

We have never claimed to be perfect. We are human and we do make mistakes. We only ask the opportunity to correct those mistakes.

Diagnosis at a distance is very difficult. In other words, when a customer calls and explains a problem, we give our best answer but most of the time it is impossible to give an exact answer without seeing the problem. (Post #68). It is far better to under promise and over deliver than the other way round.

It is possible that the edge bevel was too steep in the area from belly curve to tip since every knife is free-hand sharpened. With the Spyderco and sharpie technique that was reportedly used, this would be evident and at that point, the knife should have been sent back to us - four pages of Forum posts would have been averted.

These are not the most brilliant pictures but this is what the cutting edge looked like as it came back to us and is most definitely not the way it left our shop:

Once we received the knife, Chris could see that the width of the bevel was way wider than it would have been when it left our shop. (A look at the “Just Images – CRK Folders” sticky thread will show multiple times how even and narrow our edge bevels are.) Chris can regrind this blade to remove the uneven start of the grind and return it to a fully serviceable condition with virtually no evidence that anything has happened. As previously mentioned, the blade would end up ever so slightly shorter but the difference would be barely noticeable.

We have offered to do this work at no charge, which is well within our warranty and we stand by that offer.

Anne

A close up on the area in question would do alot better service, as I worked this area harder to get to edge that was never hapening due to reasons stated. Anyway this thread was heading to page two and that's were it can go cause im tired of it at this point . Now when's my seb with new blade coming back. ;)

Why exactly are you insisting on a new blade when they offered to sharpen it back to factory specs for free?

Just curious.

Chances are that when you try and sharpen the new blade, the same thing will happen. Why not roll with the original blade, sharpened by Chris himself? You can always get a new blade put on at a later time...

It wouldn't be factory specs on my blade the knife was new I want a new blade .......do we really need to re hash this all over agaiin. Honestly at this poiint any answers to any questions wiill be in this thread so

I see.

Sorry to hear that you wont be using this knife. The design really shines when they are used. Of course, as soon as you use it, it is no longer new, and that wouldnt be good, right?

I just suggest you dont screw up the edge on your new blade when you get it, like the last one.

But, your $130, your prerogative.

Enjoy your Sebenza.

As long as the bevel comes even it wont get screwed up like the umnum I've done and the thirty or so other knives I've edge pro but thankx for the free advice buddy. It can be sharpened on the sharpmaker for a long time before it will be taken to where it would have been iif reprofiled buy crk but agaiin thankx for the free adive buddy.

Think I don't use expensive knives research some of my previous posts in other threads but then again u know it all
