CRKT 4504 HAWK DOG Knife - G&G Hawk design Thoughts? Long out of Production

I'm also a DOG lover. I got my first back in 03 with the black plastic pivot, and used it almost exclusively for years until I lost it. I think I left it at a dock while crabbing. Yes, I even used it on salt water bait. I recently got another one with the stainless pivot, and love it just as much. It's the 4514 with the combo edge, which is the only thing I regret. I hate single bevels, it just seems lazy. Looking at the pics of the plain edge 4504's, it looks like they have a normal bevel which I would prefer now that I know more. But oh well, can't blame CRKT, they still brought us a great knife with a great locking mechanism at a great price. I think when I find the free time I'm going to make some wood scales to spice it up a bit. I think that's a great look for it.

And yes, they are still available online for a pretty decent price. Well worth every penny if you don't already have one.

(That is a steal! Wanna sell it?

Gavin ) i dont think ill ever see another at that price, the only others i rarely see go for 700.....

CRKT 4504 HAWK DOG - I must say - that the oval opening area has changed over time to open beautifully without any sharp edges remaining. No gripes about this knife any more - solid piece of metal and the lock is perfectly designed.

Wonder if Grant and Gavin have any other new knife makers that will use this locking mechanism.

Gavin hinted at a new prototype the other day on his instagram - anybody laid eyes on it?!

They have branched out over the last few years to work with quite a few big names, Kershaw/Zt, Chris Reeve, Boker, Buck, CRKT, and Mantis. No idea on the new knife you mentioned but I was lucky enough to talk with Gavin again last year and play with his Deadlock Prototype and it was the cows moo! I'll have to keep an eye out thanks!
