CRKT Sebenza Pics

That's interesting. Often pre production samples like that come with a letter stating that they remain the property of the manufacturer. I wonder if teh rep who sold this one still works for CRKT?

While it might not be up to Chris Reeves standards, that's just the type of piece that should one day become a rare collectable should the market for CRK knives ever really take off. I'd say that while it might be a bit rough, from a real collector's point of view, that's a real jem, especially with teh provenance of teh documentation.

Contrats!

Dave, am I (or anyone) "worried" about that? Sure not! In fact I just don't care. I collect what I like, and that's why I don't have CRKT "version" at home.

However, I can imagine that for collectos of rare knives this folder may be interesting. Just not my cup of tea...

Chris and Anne Reeve. as well as their fine staff have always treated me quite well during my dealings with them over many years as a writer, LEO and knife collector.
As stated earlier, I purchased this folder as a piece of sebenza history only and I do not pretend to know the whole story behind the business dealings & agreements surrounding the CRKT folder and all parties involved.
I do, however, know that the respect CRK receives from their many personal and business interactions is well deserved and if they were in fact deceived by the release of any of these folders I am more than happy to give this sample to them to do with it as they please.

Just to put some closure on just how CRK feels about the CRKT Sebenza, here is what Anne Reeve stated in a recent answer to my above offer:

I really appreciate your generosity in wishing to help us out with the CRKT knife. The history goes way back and yes, we had asked that nothing went into the market place but obviously, some did just that. It has been a real disappointment but what can you do?!? We do have an example of the knife and so will not take you up on your offer. As some of the folks mentioned on BladeForums, it is a part of the history of Chris Reeve Knives and, as such, has some collector value!
Many thanks and be sure to let us know if we can help you at any time –

Very best wishes

Anne

They are just protos and and everyone on this thread is showing interest. It is just a bit of history.

recoil, please do not take personally anything I said about the knife, because, well... it was about the knife. Anyway, that was very kind offer to Chris & Anne. That shows your personal quality! Great attitude, really well done! :)

Piter,
No offense taken at all,

actually, I am kind of glad that there were different viewpoints about this knife since it showed that even after 10 years there were still some unanswered questions regarding it's history that Anne has cleared up with her response.
I'm going to keep this folder in my display case as a reminder that although some may try, duplicating the quality and workmanship of a Chris Reeve knife is not easily accomplished!

It seems as if they are only historical artifacts, at this point. The few that exist deserve to be kept as artifacts and as reminders of a project that never reached fruition.

Their existence can't pose any threat to CRK, the man, the company or the products.
