Crocadile Hunter, Steve Irwin dies in a wilderness accident!

Did you read the part about "INTENTIONALLY TAKEN UNNECESSARY RISKS" in my message. Or did you choose to ignore it?

He used to fed crocs with a piece of meat in one hand and his own baby in the other.Thats documented.

I dont think that a single tree was saved because of his antics that wouldnt have been saved had he done really good quality, exciting programs that didnt involve doing absolutely assenine stunts.

I mean come on..

If you work a dangerous job, does showing up for work every day "intentionally" constitute taking a intentional risk? Or can you go to work un-intentionally?

Are you stupid intentionally or just trolling?

If you go through the door alone on a dangerous arrest situation armed with a butter knife with your two month old baby on the other hand...thats taking an unnecessary risk.INTENTIONALLY.No need for it. Unnecessary.Ok?

And every normal cop will think your an idiot.

If you feed crocs with your baby in your other hand your risking the death of YOUR OWN CHILD. Or an injury which disfigures him for life.No eyes, nose, ears etc.. For no reason except your own thrill seeking.

Unnecessary stupid risk.

He was a thrill seeker who was a bit thick.Atleast on his interviews he sounds like he took the short bus, people started to laugh when he just opened hes mouth.. Not a bad guy, but he got what was coming to him.Stupid gets what stupid does.

If a guy from jackass dies after he slaps a caged tiger with a dildo, youd say he was an idiot who got what he deserved. WHen someone dangles his baby in front of a croc you call him a sage, a natureman, a GREAT humanbeing.Just because hes involved with wildlife, and your "survivalists".

Go figure.

Why get in fight over this?It was a tragic accident. We all, at times do stupid stuff. Why don't we show some class and fight over something else.Like blade steel.

This statment shows the your oblivious to the importance of the enviornment around you, beyond your own little world.

It's not that he was involved with wildlife, he lived it and breathed it.

Agree to disagree I guess.

People who live and breathe wildlife are native africans or old saami-people etc.

They werent in the habit of marching to a hibernating bear and poking its ass with a stick for fun. Cause its stupid.

Value for life is a big thing when its hanging by a thread every day. When youre a simple aussie who gets paid to run around the outback poking dangerous animals around, your values are quite different.

But hey, who cares.

Cynic, while I don't disagree with you, perhaps this thread would be best left to die. I started a problem when I made my first post on it, not realizing that he was a national hero of sorts in Australia, and the subject of hero worship in the U.S. and other countries. While I don't subscribe to hero worship, or endowing the dead with attributes and accomplishments in death that they did not display in life, I must respect those people who do. My opinion has not changed one iota through all the research I have done on the subject, but nothing is to be gained by applying logic to a subject which is based upon emotion and hero worship. Let's please agree now to let it lie? Wanna discuss Elvis the fat druggie? :D

Codger

Wow Codger, that was insulting.

I guess if you feel inclined to misconstrude respect for a persons acomplishments with "hero worship", go at it.

No, I guess I'll drop it now that the conversation has gotten to the point of insulting people. I would love to know what this bait smells like.

i guess i am un-intentionally stupid, but i can bench-press 415lbs and dunk a basketball. i can hike 12 miles a day with 60lb pack. what can you do? i love the outdoors and speaking my mind. but i dont make a habbit of insulting people i do not know or will ever know.

Probably nobody cares, but this is why I left another forum. The heading at the top says 'Wilderness & Survival Skills', not Family Feud. Whaddya say we get back to it?

edited:WV,nevermind. I dont want to ruin your self image with sad facts and drive you to yet another cycle of winnie, sustanol and obsessive dunking.

A hint: If you ever get to a job interview, or close to a female...Dont give that particular personal info as something that defines your accomplishments. Read a book or something.

Some of you people really surprise me, you call yourselves survivalist and outdoorsman and you criticize someone for doing what they really loved. He may have taken a chance in your eyes, but not his or his colleges. Give me a definition of taking a chance or doing something risky. He was a man who believed in what he did, the teaching and conservation of animals and their habitat. He brought the shock factor to something really boring to make points. These animals can be lived with as long as you know and respect their capabilities. Some of you say that once you have kids and a family you have to stop taking chances. Every day you step out the door of your house you are taking chances. All the police, fire fighters, pilots.....better not be married because your job is just way to risky to be married and have kids. How many of you hunt and fish, there are more accidents and deaths each and every year caused by careless hunters. These people are out doing what they love, and some even take their kids into the field with them. You going to say these people are stupid and idiotic risk takers?
Rest in Peace Steve, you will be missed.

Tony,
I have the upmost respect for the man and the skill he had in what he did. I have walked the walk and just choose another path to honor the man and his life. I feel that we never stop taking risks in life.
