I am putting this message out to everyone including the members who don't state in their threads that the item is for sale on other forums and to members who don't even update their original post, let alone the title to reflect the sales status.

Many have said "I'll take it" and gotten a reply saying 'sorry, sold it on (forum)' and I think common courtesy so people don't waste their time is to state if items are posted elsewhere.

Many have had to look through page long threads because the original poster was too lazy to update the title/post or even at LEAST close the thread.

This is a problem on various forums too.

So please, in your sales threads, post if its for sale on another forum, and if it sells on another forum, please just don't abandon your thread, update it (and the title) to reflect the status.

Thank you,
HALO.

Good point. The Exchange rules refer to this;
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/announcement.php?f=699&a=98

SECTION 3 - Rules for Sellers / Traders / Service Providers (hereafter referred to as "Sellers"):
13. Please indicate in the original post after the item has been sold or traded. It'd be nice if you locked the thread too.

Yes, but the titles/posts are rarely ever marked as "sold" which is extremely easy, and 60% of people either don't read or don't read that.

The locking of threads is often done, but marking the title and post as sold is what should also be done.

I can't even document how many people I've seen go into a thread with the price still there and everything, no indication of it being sold, and the seller replies 'sorry, this sold on another forum' or 'haha, I sold this DAYYYS ago :P'

I agree. People should change the thread title to show the item is sold when all in the thread are sold, an then lock the thread.
I would never put something up at more than one place myself. If someone puts up an "I'll take it" I want them to know its theirs without having to wonder if its sold somewhere else already.

Tvhaugen has now clarified, but still the cross forum posting problem still remains.

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish here, you're baiting someone with good feedback. Pretty sure he's not scamming you. And if the other guy didn't make a lower offer that was declined, there was no reason for him not to sell to that guy.

Keep in mind, BF does not want to get involved in cross-forum discussions. If someone is selling on another forum, it is none of our business. All we expect is that he keep up with his sale on BF. If the ite sells there, all we need to know here is "Sold!"

Listen, I did want it, and I'm buying it, you have NO possible way to read his PM's here or there, so you don't know if the guy offered less.

PLEASE, stop being so accusatory when you really don't know much.

+1
I completely agree.

Sorry about the confusion. I keep all my threads updated immediately. This one was strange because the buyer on another forum made a lower offer, but still posted "I will take it".

No being accusatory, just trying to understand what you're doing here. Since you want it, glad you got it. It seems like a good deal, enjoy it. And you're right, I don't know if the other guy really offered less, I never said I did.

They should have posted "PM sent with offer".

I'm sure some of these "I'll take it" with PMed offers are deliberately trying to discourage other bids, so they get it when the seller has to lower his price.

Sometimes they are just klutzes. I just bid on a knife posted yesterday, buyer posted "I'll take it" yesterday, seller posted "Still available" today. (Never give up! :D)
